But not unexpected. One of the symptoms of feeling inferior is the need for somebody, anybody, to look down on. It is what fueled racial bigotry and it is what fuels homosexual bigotry. That's my point exactly. I think they are using the *same* arguments that tried to justify slavery, but using them to justify being bigoted against gays.

Homosexuality is not a choice. You are born gay. In fact, 10-15% of all animals are born gay.

Shrimp start out their lives as male and turn female as they age, and they're not even married.

We have to. It's at the heart of the anti-gay movement. The irony is that those who will accept blacks for who they are and not what they are, find it unacceptable that someone is gay instead of looking at his/her character.

It's simply not fair.

I wish that were merely a generalization. Note that we STILL have high school principals that forbid students of different races to dance together based on 'moral beliefs' today.

Edit: I can tell you right now those beliefs didn't originate from this decade, thats for sure.

Too bad we can't do a world-wide poll of every homosexual and end this "is/isn't a choice" confusion once and for all. And yes, the irony abounds.

Dari, is it an accepted fact that homosexuality isn't a choice? I was under the impression that it's not clear. (Surely, you're not simply dismissing any studies that say otherwise)

To do that you have to define homosexuality. The definition has to be rigid and able to stand many tests.

IMHO, to be a homosexual is to be sexually attracted to the same sex. No need for corollaries or exceptions.

There are wild variations of this but the fundamentals are always there.

EDIT: It's not an accepted fact. That's why we continue to have these debates. As a compromise, I've always called it a natural aberration.

I see his view as a conclusion of his own research. At the moment, we can't effectively convince the world that homosexuality is/isn't a choice any more than we can convince half of the US that Bush did/didn't lie.
