And to think, the Phils lost again too.. Could have been tied for 1st

Still would have been 1/2 a game out & playing tonight with a chance to tie ... frankly I'm back to flat-out disgusted with this team.

I'm going to Saturdays game to say my farewell to Shea Stadium more then anything else & then I suspect it'll be time to watch the NFL.

Having said all that .... LETS GO METS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (please?)

I prefer the article on Carlos Voltron...the Savior of the Mets Universe..who will probably strike out looking at a curveball.

Best part of that article which I believe would actually happen:

Meanwhile, defending a comfortable 600-0 lead in the top of ninth, the Mets decided to rest up Carlos Voltron by moving him to the outfield and replacing him with reliever Aaron Heilman, who lost the lead and eventually the game after giving up 618 runs to close the inning.

"It really all depends on which team decides to step up and wilt under pressure."

LOL ... This line from the Onion article says it all.

I don't recall seeing threads for all the other 30+ teams in the MLB, but I do know that I have seen this thread throughout the season...and all those other teams...they didn't implode like this 2 years in a row. I'm thinkin maybe you don't make this thread next year, and see what happens.

HAHA.
you could be on to something. we have the Yanks thread and we know how well they did this year 🙁

The good news is the blue crew are playing cubbies for the next series, the bad news the cubbies are already in and could give two shit if they win or lose the series. Lou can sit all his starters and play the backups. I would LMAO if the Mets get swept by the fish.

mets and cubs game could be rained out, then mets and floriduh series could be rained out.

if we're following precedent, the mets should play the cubs in milwaukee, then fly to tampa bay and play in the trop against the marlins. after all, we have to get in the games

A super "B" lineup for the Cubs and they are already smacking Pedro around.

Hey Pedro, go find a damn mango tree and fucking retire.

TRBL. Just TRBL.

I might be going to tomorrows game with a co-worker to se Shea Stadium off... if it doesnt rain that is...

Im a Yankee fan, but would like to see at least one NY team make the playoffs..

Goodbye Petey. Cubs B lineup lead by super powerhouse Micah Hoffpaiur just killed the Mets. I don't know who that dude is and I don't care but as usual the Mets pig pen blew it and they only needed one pitch to do so.

The Brewers are leading their game and I just don't see the Mets making it.

The game last night was retarded. I didn't even go nuts when they won, I had already gone numb expecting someone to miss a base running or run the wrong way. Too much fucking DRAMA.

Pathetic.

See you next season. 🙁

Pretty much. Johan on short rest after a 120+ pitch effort isn't a good thing but what choice does Manuel have?? Brandon Knight?? LOL I'm surprisingly ok with it all if the Mets lose today. The team has a ton of flaws and has had so many ups and downs and with that god awful bullpen (who has blown around 30 games, I think 8 alone in the 9th inning) its amazing that they are where they are now.

Gotta put things in perspective with the Mets. The Phillies have a superior bullpen and an exceptional closer in Lidge who looks like his old dominant self and that is the big difference between both teams. I hope the Mets are at least competitive the last two games as the dump that is Shea will start to be demolished 15 days after sunday.

Well I have to say that regardless of the outcome of the 2008 Pennant race for the NY Metropolitans theres reason to be proud for Mets fans ... Johan Santana demanded the ball today on 3 days rest & proceded to toss a complete-game shutout gem with 9 strike-outs & only 3 walks when the team needed it most.

Now if the Cubbies can hold on to defeat Milwaukee we'll be back in a tie for the Wildcard ... I'm still expecting the worst but we have a pulse yet.

Edit: Game over in Milwaukee ... Cubs 7 - Brewers 3

Johan was magnificent and has been everything I could have hoped when the Mets signed him. The Cubs beat the Brewers so the Mets and the Brew Crew are tied for the wildcard and it all comes down to one game. Unfortunately, the Mets own little Jekyll and Hyde act, Oliver Perez will pitch on 3 days rest. <sigh> I don't expect much him at all so hopefully the Mets offense can take care of Scott Olsen.

The Brewers will have CC Sabathia on the mound tomorrow on 3 days rest for the 3rd time in a row. Lets see how he fares against what I hope will be the Cubs "A" lineup.

Lets go Mets for one last day!

Lets face it. Baseball has too long a season. Play the playoffs in September. Last game of the season is going to be Labor Day. Who's with me?

(Pretty much all of the Mets fans and Brewers fans on Anandtech I assume!)

Anybody watching the Fish Vs. Mets game? Fish just put up the insurance run in the 8th. Mets season might be over. Blue crew and cubs are tied 1 a piece in the 8th.
