Confirmed, Mets get Castillo and give up very little which was my main concern
Think he will do a nice job, a gold glove at 2nd base with good experience.
Is he out of contract at this season's end?

The Braves seem to have blown their load in getting Teixeira, giving up their top two prospects. If he plays well he is going to bolt for a bumper contract elsewhere, if he sucks the Braves are gonna look rather silly....no win either way IMHO.

Why are they dealing for Gagne?
All I know is they better not move Gotay and Gomez. Lastings Milledge has been looking good the past few weeks as well.

The deadline has come and pass and it looks like thats about it for the Mets. Castillo and ...thats it. No outfielder with pop, no reliever, no starter..zip. Its said that Omar tried very hard to get Cordero but thats about it.

Of course things still happen past the deadline like waiver deals and stuff. I hope Castillo does well as he was not exactly thrilled to be coming to the Mets.

disappointed we missed out on Gagne or Cordero, but relieved we still have Milledge, Gomez, Martinez, Pelfrey & Humber....at least we didnt do any desperate trade we will come to regret

Picking up Castillo for basically free can only be a good move. I feel bad Gotay is not getting a chance, but understand we can't take time to let him develop in this tight NL East.

attention mets fans...

keep a close eye on the rearview mirror as you are about to be overrun. the braves offensive slaughter has begun and opponents have been outscored 26-4 the past two games.

tex should start in cleanup starting tomorrow. this reminds me of the fred mcgriff trade that sparked the 93 run to the playoffs.

one week till the series at shea, see ya then

Exciting game yesterday. Too bad the Mets lost. Guess Glavine's gotta shell out for more plane tickets for his family.

Feliciano better figure out WTF is wrong with him, otherwise the already bad bullpen is gonna get worse.

Can the Mets honestly be surprised that a steroid-free Mota is once again a piece of crap pitcher?

Well the Mets aren't playing as good as they should, so I wouldn't be surprised if the Braves do pass them, but you must on some crazy drugs if you think this years Braves team is even half as good as the 93 team.

nice road trip with a 4-2 record against the NL Central's best teams.

#300 is finally out of the way, now we can concentrate on winning the division

Castillo looks like he's settling in nicely, Milledge keeps hitting well ...bring on the Braves!

Mets are playing well and I'm happy for Glavine but I'm more happy that the Mets are winning series. Now comes a huge series against the Braves and they HAVE to show they can beat them!

Castillo had a great game last night and his defense was wonderful. Now we see why Omar traded for him. He left the game with heat exhaustion so next time have the gatorade and vitamin water ready for him! Lastings is hitting the ball and even Delgado is hitting the ball hard. I'm a bit concerned with Feliciano as he has been REALLY shaky lately but I think that he's just going through a slump and should be just fine down the road. Heilman has been excellent lately. Sosa has been good out of the pen too.

As you said Murph...bring on the Braves!

its pounding time, let me introduce the mets to the freshly tweaked and most explosive offense in the NL.

Don't be silly. Good offense but not the best at all. I think the Phils have the most runs but I'm too lazy to check.

I wouldn't be surprised if the Braves swept the Mets. The Mets just shrivel up like a frightened turtle against the Braves. (cookie for the person who gets that reference) Why?? Not really sure.

93 was one of the greatest pitching teams in baseball history. the current Braves lineup could become one of the most solid hitting lineups. so yes i would say that this years team is as good as 93 but its apples to oranges.

i will give the mets lineup props since the team batting avg of the Mets and Braves are nearly identical.

Game over already?? Typical Mets against the Braves. Just amazing how one team has such dominance against another.

They will probably sweep the Mets and I really wouldn't be surprised at all. Speaking seriously I find it amazing how one team is just so dominant against another like the Braves vs the Mets. No matter who wears the uniforms the results are the always same. Then watch the Braves get swept by the Phillies and the Mets sweep the Marlins just to annoy Mets fans even more. Mets just can't beat the Braves..period. Been that way for over a decade.

The Braves really got through tonight because of great hustle. That hustle caught the Mets (Castillo really) by surprise. I give the Braves full credit for that one.

The Braves lineup isn't even top 5 in baseball, let alone one of the most solid ever, which it seems you are implying.

braves lineup is second to the Phillies in the NL and they just added Texiera, so yes, i'd say it's one of the more solid lineups the braves have ever had.
