No other 2nd basemen in AL are having good years so Soriano was an easy choice. He's also well known from his Yankees days.

Ben Sheets has been awesome this year.
And his team is six games over .500 and only one game behind the Cubs.

And not to mention they just swept the Cubbies in a 3 game home stand pitching a 0.66 ERA. Hard to beat that!

The game is on my birthday, so my wife can't complain about me watching it.

Giambi starting is a joke. .241 with 11 HRs? That's closer to the worst 1B in the AL, not the best. Of the whole league, only Carlos Delgado, Tony Pena, and Doug Menchevizerjaklearjkz have worse stats.

Same with Jeter leading the AL SS fan voting when he was hitting ~.200 with Michael Young closer to .400. What a f'ing joke.

Now Matsui wins the 31st man vote? I hate Yankee fans. Think their players are the absolute best regardless of performance. Same with the praise of Jeter when 2/3 of shortstops in the league could have run down that pop up with enough time to slow down and not pull a Chris Duhon.

Ok, you're wrong about Jeter. The guy has been hitting over .400 in the past 2 months. Have you see the play he made against Red Sox? Then another one against Mets? That alone should put him into the all star game. His batting average is .275 right now and that's after being .170 as late as early May. Even Red Sox fans I know agree that Jeter is the best shortstop playing the game today. Just read the ESPN column by Bill forgot his last name. He's a die hard red sox fan and has dissed jeter before. He wrote an article recently, admitting that he was wrong and that Jeter is the reason yanks are good. I'd post a link here if i can find it.

Edit: I agree about Matsui, but don't blame yankee fans for him getting in, blame japanese fans. The same with Ichiro.

Not only is he wrong about Jeter, he's wrong about Matsui too. It's not the Yankee fan voting that got him in. It's the entire country of Japan voting that did it for him.

i think just because he has been hot the last month shouldn't automatically make him a starter. Michael Young has been tremendous the WHOLE first half. His defense his been on par too especially after switching from 2B to SS. He probably doesn't have a SS arm but he makes the most out of every play.

Is anyone going to make any predictions on the final outcome?

Or is anyone gonna watch it at all? :p

Wow, you do seem to forget the POINT of an all-star game. Its USUALLY for the fans to vote for their FAVORITE players, not the BEST players. Thats what the manager does. So what if other shortstops could have made that play. The fact is, they DIDN'T make that play. All you Yankee haters give all these stupid stupid excuses for everything. Blame the world as much as you want, there will still be 8 Yankees at the Allstar game. Cry.
