Any tips on batting? I'm awful at it so far. :)

Honestly I forgot pretty much everything. Good to see how fast all the pitcher's pitches are though, sometimes they vary from 65 to 98 and sometimes all of their pitches are about the same speed (85ish). Holding up on the left analog stick while hitting is a pop-fly like every time if i recall correctly. I think you use the left analog to help direct where you're going to hit the ball to

Playing this game with keyboard and mouse is so much fail

yep, I have a SFIV controller which has no analog sticks so I can't use the gamepad to play it. $1.99 was a good ass deal but now if I want to play it right i'm going to have to drop $30+ on a gamepad *sigh*

Can anyone recommend a cheaper knock off controller? Radioshack has one for 8 bucks but it doesn't have the top trigger buttons.

Thanks, I was just going to ask if I could use my PS3 controller on the PC :)

Do I need any hardware to make it work or is it just getting plugged in via the USB port?

You'll need to install MotionJoy to make it work. If you're running Vista or Windows 7 x64, you'll have to reboot and press F8, then select "Disable digital driver signing." After you install MotionJoy, you'll need to plug the PS3 controller in to sync it. If you want to make it wireless, you can buy a USB bluetooth dongle. I got one for $20 at walmart and it works great for this.

If you have any troubles with MotionJoy, make sure you read through the help guides on their website and follow the instructions very carefully.

Do you have an xbox controller? You can use a wired one or get a receiver for a little over $10 on ebay.

Still no luck on the controller working. Even borrowed my brothers Microsoft controller. Same problem persists.

Good luck. I stopped playing (well, never even started really) because of this issue. I use the wired 360 controller straight from MS and it's a completely buggy POS. The game was not meant to ever be played on PC IMO, which is why I think it was being sold for $1.99. They knew they'd recoup some losses of making such a shitty port.

Anyways, I have a similar issue. For me, I see the button mapping the same as you do (Button 1, Button2, etc). I found that the only way to get the controller to even remotely work was to start the game and not touch the keyboard or mouse whatsoever after that. I have to do everything through the controller. Unfortunately, because the button mapping is so fucked, I have no idea what does what...and to be quite honest, it's too much of a waste of my time to have to figure it out.

If these losers can't program a controller to work and map correctly, I can only imagine what a waste of time the shitty gameplay will be.

I have zero problems using my wireless 360 controller (and can switch to the mouse and go back and so on). And the game is actually not bad. I've sunk 10 hours or so into it so far, not bad for $1.99.

edit: The "Cola Pop" ads irritate me.

I just want to add:

If the buttons are really annoying you (A, B, C, D), you can easily mod them to resemble the 360 buttons.

Made a huge difference after I did that.

You can actually download updated stadium files with the correct ads (so you'll see coca cola, budweiser, etc).

I use the wireless 360 controller as well, and as long as I don't choose a menu option with the mouse, I'm fine. However, if I do choose a menu option with the mouse, the controller is no longer recognized.

I agree about the Cola Pop ads -- and I can't figure out why they include them when they clearly have a deal with Pepsi for ads -- why not just make all the "Cola Pop" ads more Pepsi ones? I'll have to check out the mods to fix the stadium ads, that would be pretty sweet.

One last question -- anyone have an issue where the jumbotrons (where it usually shows a picture of the player up and season stats) are all black once you start the second season of my player mode? Additionally, the stat boards no longer show career stats but rather just your stats from today's game (e.g. so after getting a hit in my first AB, my average is listed as 1.000)?

I have no issue using my wireless 360 controller with this game.
One or actually, two issues though, I need to improve my swing as a batter and fast ball as a pitcher.
I also play it in 3d-vision with great convergence and depth.
A steal for $1.99

You need to use another utility to install the 360 button overlays

http://www.mlbmods.com/index.php/downloads/mlb2k10/tools/mlb-thingy-2k10

It's pretty easy to use, but if you can't figure it out, let me know.

It won't fix your controller issues though, but it will make it easier to use your controller if you finally get it working.

I seriously can not figure out the total installer thingy for MLB 2K10. I also cant find a dummy guide for it too. The official page for it is VERY unhelpful.

Extract everything from that .7z file that you downloaded (the 360 controller overlay) to a folder somewhere you can find it.

Then launch: TiT_4_MLB_2k10

I believe it'll ask you for your MLB 2K10 directory. It'll probably be C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\MLB2K10\ if you bought it from steam.

Then inside the Total Installer thingy select the "MLB-thingy.kraw" file that you extracted, then click start. Should take a minute (or less) and you're done.

You guys with no controller issues: what OS are you running? I'm on Vista 64 bit...I wonder if that's the problem.

You're not the only one! Google the problem and you get tons of results. This game wasn't made to ever be played on PC. This is the only Steam purchase that I regret, even if it was only $1.99

LOL I don't regret the $1.99, but the fact I bought a controller to play it, I ended up spending $28, which kind of upsets me. I'm going to mess with it in the hopes I can get something working. Right now all I can do is control the menus, but I can't even get into them without my keyboard. While in game it's like the Joystick isn't even being detected. This game is epic fail trying to play with a keyboard + mouse too.
