I drink PowerAde Zero's at work.
http://www.us.powerade.com/zero/ (paz)

It's basically flavored water with a few nutrients.

I'm going to start using creatine more regularly, and I'm just wondering if I should add some to each PAZ I drink.

How much should I add? Each PAZ is 30 fl Oz. I'm going to buy creatine in bulk and have a canister shipped to work. Can I be liberal? Too much creatine? Or better a little too much than not enough?

Pointless. Creatine should be taken with simple sugars. Poweraid Zero is a zero sugar drink.

Actually, creatine doesn't have to be taken with anything to still be effective. Sure, taking it with something that spikes insulin (glucose, dextrose, maltodextrose) will improve transport into the cells, but since most people take such drinks directly after working out, it's less effective anyhow (insulin response is blunted). Drinking it with water is fine. Drinking it with grape juice is fine. Drinking it with Poweraid is fine. It will still work fine.

Thanks. What I've been reading is that you should use grape juice if possible, since it's ideal. Water is 'fine' and more acidic juices like orange juice should be avoided.

I can't drink grape juice all day, but it's going to be easy to add some creatine to my poweraid and not think twice about it.

I'm just going to buy some creatine in bulk. Is it ok to be liberal with intake?

The body can only take in so much creatine per time. You can load, but that puts an increased demand on the kidneys. No research has detriment, but it has shown to increase things like formaldehyde in the urine. As said in the previous creatine thread, 5g per day will be fine. No loading phase is really necessary.

ok.. yea I typically drink 1-2 poweraids per day.. It's mostly water anyway.

I was thinking to make a habit out of putting a spoonful in one of them each day

Really anything is fine with creatine. There are somethings more ideal, but in the long run you load up and it's in your system. I usually just mix it in with something else I am drinking, I don't care for grape juice. I had used it at one time, but the difference between that, water and anything else was insignificant in how I looked, felt or influence on my lifts.

I'd stick with ~5g. Creatine is pretty safe, but you don't want to constantly saturate your body with that much. You don't want to make your kidneys work harder than they need to. A "spoonful" 2x a day for an extended period of time isn't a good idea. F.Y.I., ~5g is ~ a heaped teaspoon.

I use a the tsp measuring teaspoon and take ~3/4 full with a protein shake before lifting and ~3/4 full with a shake after lifting.

You want Creatine Monohydrate and micronized varieties dissolve best. (less of that gritty taste at the end)

I get Body Fortress brand called Super Advanced Creatine HP, but its just creatine with electrolytes and simple sugars much like Gatorade. It does have some NOS and BCAA additives as well. It says to take 2 servings a day if your over 125lbs, which is almost everyone of age to buy it from Walmart. But a single serving is 6,119mg (Creatine Monohydrate, Creatine Ester Phosphate, Creatine Ethyl Ester). So I only take it once a day 20mins before my workout. Unless I am mistaken taking 12,238mg a day would be seriously overkill. I think they just tell you that so the un educated will use/buy more.

Try mixing it with Vitalyte, that stuff doesn't have much flavor but it kicks the crap out of G2 or Powerade. 10g of sugar per serving should work out just find too.

I <3 Vitalyte, it's not that expensive either, a canister that makes 5 gallons runs about $13 bucks.

Exodist Sounds interesting, how does it taste though?

Its fruit punch flavored. Its fruit punch.. I hate fruit punch, so I cant say its great tasting, but it taste just like coolaid fruit punch. Really wished they sold a lemon lime and I would mix it with my Gatoraid also.. hehe
Its not expensive. At one scoop a day dosage, it has 30 servings at $15 per container. I have had creatine in the past that made me dehydrated, this doesnt but I can tell when I stop taking it for a week and notice better fatigue resistance when taking it after a week. Plus the electrolytes help as well.

I'm so lazy, I usually just dump a tablespoon/5g in my mouth and wash it down with a gulp of water and let my stomach sort it out.
