Saw on Twitter that Mnuchin pulled out of the deal at 7AM, after agreeing to it at 4AM. Wants to now push deal breakers for Dems in

This is reportedly premature and they have an agreement. The GOP house is nervous that Trump won't support the deal and want his assurance before voting for it.

Odds Trump sees the market up 600 points and says "what do I need that for" probably 50/50.

I been watching Barney Miller recently and when they mentioned the police layoff of 75 I got curious so I looked it up online and holy shit that was a mess. But more than a few people in power stated Ford actually did New York a favor. By refusing to help they started relying on themselves and came up with a solution.
Throughout the crisis years the citizens of New York City paid more in federal taxes than they got back in federal services. Those folks were propping up the people tsk tsking them.

You can always redistribute all the wealth from the millions of deaths (mostly conservative old people) to pay for all the free stuff for the liberal younger generation.

That's a better idea than the current system that redistributes all the wealth from the millions of deaths (mostly conservative old people) to their rich, conservative children.

Given Pelosi's announcement it sounds like there are still problems and the House will move forward and vote on the Democratic plan sans GOP support.

Puts Trump on the spot this afternoon in his ill timed press conference.

Pelosi should pass what she wants to pass, and let Trump and McConnell defend ripping out paid Medical leave in the middle of a pandemic. McConnell needs to understand that if more people don't get tested and this is not brought under control, what will happen to his party come November.
They'll just set the gaslighting valve to 11.

President “The Best Deals” has now killed the bill 3 times today. I pray that Nancy has learned to record these fuckwads during any negotiation. Keep the receipts.

Deal is off. Dems are going home. Mnuchin and Trump to meet this evening.

Nevermind... deal back on. Mnuchin finally convinced Trump to take the deal.

Mitch McConnell rejects Democrat's coronavirus plan as liberal 'wish list'

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell says a proposal aimed at extending paid sick leave and other ideas to combat the coronavirus pandemic is nothing but an "ideological wish list" for House Democrats.

The House-backed legislative package — dubbed The Families First Coronavirus Response Act — also seeks to enhance unemployment benefits, supplement food assistance programs and provide free testing to identify COVID-19.

Is that the one where the Dems were trying to add pro-life provisions?

Now that the House has passed it and Trump wants to sign it could the senate majority leader, pretty please with sugar on top, bother to fucking show back up in the capitol and pass the bill though his chamber like yesterday?

I know there are unqualified conservative justices to fete and toast but the entire country is shuddering to a halt.

They are trying to get Trump to realize that this is a serious problem. That it's not something he can solve with bullshit and phony optics. Peoples lives are on the line. It must be like pulling teeth to get him to act and show leadership to ALL Americans. Just a quick little note to say Piss off to McConnell type Republicans who are so vehemently against "socialism" and "welfare" that they're willing to do harm to living, breathing human beings, but are more than willing to embrace both socialism and welfare when it's bailing out the GOP voting base (farmers etc) and giving more tax breaks to the wealthy.

Dems were adding pro life provisions?

Can you please link the text of the bill that had the White House concerned about abortion? Just like @blackangst1 I'm sure you did your due diligence and investigated this rather than just posting taking points.

Oh, there was an attempt to add abortion into the mix, now guess which party was trying it - Republicans Tried to Sneak Abortion Restrictions into the Coronavirus Bill

That is my feeling as well, but I honestly haven't seen the text of the bill either way. It makes a little more sense that the GOP is full of shit as usual. My point was that our usual rubes continue to be rubes and just post any nonsense they hear with absolutely no curiosity on their parts.

Update: Mitch McConnell is still dragging his feet - 3-16-2020

McConnell pushing coronavirus vote to later in week over GOP opposition to House bill

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) is not expected to schedule a vote on a coronavirus relief bill until later in the week after initially calling the legislation “urgent.”

According to Politico Playbook, “the Senate will not get around to the coronavirus bill until MID- to LATE WEEK.”

The report explains:

SO HERE’S WHAT TO EXPECT: Tonight at 5:30 p.m., the Senate will have a procedural vote on a bill to renew the FISA laws. The chamber will finish that bill. If any senator wants to bring up the coronavirus bill before they finish FISA, it would require unanimous consent. Sen. DICK DURBIN (D-Ill.) called on Senate Majority Leader MITCH MCCONNELL to pass the bill by UC in a pretty extraordinary statement.
LEADERSHIP AIDES BELIEVE there are GOP senators who are against the House’s coronavirus package, so unanimous consent seems unlikely. Combine that with the fact that the House has to make technical corrections to its bill, and it seems likely that the Senate will not get around to the coronavirus bill until MID- to LATE WEEK. Is that sustainable? Who knows. It’s just the reality at this point.

But hey, don't play politics, Dems! amiright or amiright?

You mean you can't lie this virus away?

Trump and the GOP have transcended 'the big lie'.

"His primary rules were: never allow the public to cool off; never admit a fault or wrong; never concede that there may be some good in your enemy; never leave room for alternatives; never accept blame; concentrate on one enemy at a time and blame him for everything that goes wrong; people will believe a big lie sooner than a little one; and if you repeat it frequently enough people will sooner or later believe it."

I'm sure Trump also got similar advice from Roy Cohn.

Although you meant this in satirical speak... this might be the most intelligent statement I have read all day when taken literally.
Hopefully if you or your loved ones are ever suffering, they get the compassion you think they deserve.
