Their styling is quite similar..

It was mostly the use of the red pillars and such that made me think of the Chinese movies. You know, the ones where they have the huge temple with red pillars and the large courtyard with everyone practicing their kung fu. It's almost iconic. :p

lol

Are they actually calling the race pandaren? As in, like, panda 人?

Methinks they're running out of ideas...

Panda's were playable since forever in Warcraft. None of you guys played Warcraft 3? I specifically remember playing Pandaren Brewmaster(Something like that) in DOTA years ago.

Yeah he brings PANDAMONIUM!

I was always under the impression that the reason they were never a playable race was because Chinese government wouldn't allow the game to be released if it was in. Same with the skeletons and supernatural stuff.

Huge parts of Wrath had to be changed before it was able to be released in China due to the large amount of skeletons and such in the game. I'm sure that if it's actually a problem, it won't be that big of a deal to change it for the Chinese release. But if Kung Fu Panda was approved for Chinese theaters, I don't see how Pandaren are going to be a problem.

I'm Chinese, but what's wrong with skeletons? My parents never led me to believe something's wrong with them.

Like everyone else, I seriously thought this was a fucking joke...then I realized it wasn't April 1st. This expansion is even more out of place than TBC was. Everything also looks so unoriginal and uninspiring.

Speaking of unoriginality, Blizz completely jacked the force choke ability from SWOTR's Sith Warrior class and gave it to Death Knights.

Funny... I always considered it more like Scorpion's "Get Over Here!" move from Mortal Kombat.

As far as accusations of unoriginality go that one is rather daft. The concept of choking someone from a distance has been around for centuries.

I'm excited. I'm sick of Cata and I really hated this expansion but the new talent system will keep me around for at least 5.0. Though Druid seems like a clusterfuck at level 75 and 90.

With this, I don't believe I'll be touching another WoW expansion again. I'll probably try to ebay my unopened Cata Collection Edition game down the line too.

Been WoW free since last winter. Looks like this expansion will keep it that way.

Interesting, I need to look at the changes for Druids. Specifically what did they change or going to change that makes 75 and 90 an issue? Blizz seems to have a love/hate relationship with Druids over the years. Mind you if I played, it would definitely be Panda so not sure I would even bother with my Druid (my only 85) much anyway... Panda, the other, other, other white meat ;-) /disclaimer: I am talking about video games, pixels on the screen. In no way would I suggest, condone or participate in any type of Panda violence.

Druids get Typhoon and mass Get-Over-Here... the amount of imba add control is off the charts!

At least Shamans get a GTFO totem. :(

I'm a feral tank by the way so purely from that perspective its kind of meh at those two talent tiers.

Demo roar seems like a PVP talent to me and doesn't do the ap reduction anymore, Vortex is not bad its basically an AoE deathgrip (This is probably what I would take as a guardian) and Bear Hug is basically a stun. The damage is low I feel. Just all around a strange tier of talents.

Level 90 choices are even worse. Heart of the Wild is a 6min CD 45 second duration ability that lets me play another spec. Seems super situational and will depend greatly on encounter design. Master Shapeshifter is a way to counteract lost time outside of your form/spec. Seems like it would be powerful for Feral cats to make up for when you have to tranq or rebirth but for boomkins resto and guardians very lackluster. Disentanglement seems most powerful for a guardian if you powershift to bearform every 30s you get 20% health back.

They all just seem cludgy to me. All the other classes really have quality top off abilities in that last slot. I just don't think they have a great direction for druids with those last two tiers.

I mean I understand where they are going. Take Shaman the last tier involes totems they want druids last tier to involve shapeshifting. If only they didn't spend the last what 6? years trying to get us to stop shapeshifting and play a specific role.

Typhoon in bear form will be great. I really like that tier it has great utility options. The vortex spell just seems a bit strange too me. I don't know none too excited for that set.

When I poked around the talent choices, I would take that as Feral Cat or Bear. There's very little ways to heal yourself that quickly and for such a relatively low mana cost.

Except how the Shaman's last tier is, at least from what I can see, fairly useless. The only time I would have wanted to use more than one totem of the same element would be to provide multiple buffs, but that won't even be necessary in 5.0. The thing doesn't work on fire totems either. The cooldown reduction seems far more PVP oriented as you tend to get your totems destroyed in there. Moving your totems is only a big deal if you're dealing with a lot of cooldown-oriented totems. It might be nice in PVE in conjunction with the Repulsor Totem as it will allow you to knock back about twice as far.

The use of Ursol's Vortex is fairly limited, but so is Typhoon. In situations where add control is important, such as Ragnaros, a Druid with both abilities is incredibly useful. Boomkins are already pretty popular (along with Elemental Shamans) on Ragnaros because of Typhoon being able to push the sons back. Imagine if you could push them back with Typhoon, charge, move back and then pull them all back again with Ursol's Vortex.
