Missouri Police Officer guns down unarmed 18 year old

The authorities, prosecution, powers-that-be, et al have the witness accounts from all sources. Out of fear for witnessess (at the ones that a nugget of truth can be gleaned from) are being protected for the witnesses own safety.

What do you think would happen if they released the names of the witnesses, both white and black, that back up the Officer's version? They would be hunted down, harrassed, and possibly assaulted/killed from the mob justice that MB's family, attorneys, and race-profiteers have whipped up.

Names? I just want to know they are real. That the reporting is valid. If over a dozen witnesses stand by the officer then I move from convicting him to wanting him exonerated.

The public needs to know this.

..the race bate racketeers ~snip~

There are "race baiters" from all political stripes.

All the eyewitnesses need to be interviewed by the authorities and if the shooting was justified Officer Wilson probably still won't be able to return to duty in the area, unfortunately.

Looks like some commies from Chicago have come into town to stoke the flames.

See Who’s Been Spotted in Ferguson Trying to ‘Incite’ Riots and Mingling Among Group Armed With Molotov Cocktails

A video uploaded on YouTube Tuesday shows Gregory Lee Johnson, a veteran member of the Revolutionary Community Party, riling up a crowd and seemingly discouraging them from listening to police’s advice to calm things down.
Also spotted in Ferguson was Revolutionary Community Party operative Travis Morales.
The presence of communist revolutionaries at the demonstrations is not unusual, however. Revolutionaries like Johnson and Morales seek to use chaos and unrest to further their radical agenda to transform America away from its capitalist system.

It was reported that 25 percent of protesters arrested on Monday night were not from Ferguson. These are some the people people CNN has described as “agitators.”

I seriously doubt the St Louis county grand jury will indict Wilson and I also doubt that DOJ will find any grounds to charge Wilson with human rights violation either which will tesult in more riots.

So cops are suppose to run away from people that go around assaulting cops?

How about if you don't want someone to shoot you don't assault them?

It is not the job of cops to protect bad people from the consequences of their own bad actions.

The cops should not be able to use the phrase-- I was afraid for my life"....when they try to explain why the person they shot was unarmed and had their hands in the air....

So how does this incident affect anyone's opinion on body cameras for LEOs?

It's concerning to hear the hand-wringing from the police union. After all, body cameras will protect officers from creeps and criminals who make unfounded claims of police abuse. The only ones who need worry are officers who work outside the bounds, victimizing citizens in the process. In close calls, the public will give the tie to the officer, who must respond to threats in real time. Given the experience with dashboard cameras, it's clear juries get that.*
For the general public, the benefits of police body cameras far outweigh the risks. They are cost-efficient, costing about $500 per camera versus $4,000 for a dashboard camera in a police car. Video recordings can be blurred to protect innocent bystanders. And the officer can simply turn the camera off, though for his or her own protection, this is probably unwise.

The technology is available and exonerating or damning evidence from the a hypothetical camera might have stopped the civil unrest in the area.

I'm leaning toward such cameras being more of a benefit than a hindrance to law enforcement and the public.

In a first account of its kind, a caller to Radio America's "The Dana Show," who identified herself only as Josie, told listeners a detailed account of Officer Darren Wilson's side. A source with detailed knowledge of the investigation told CNN it accurately matched what the officer has told investigators.

so far this is a he said she said my great uncle said his grandmother said that my great niece said that her son by her third marriage was a witness to this whole thing....

Agreed. I haven't seen any debate on this, everyone simply agrees.

Not sure if it solves the right problem, but hard to knock that implementation.

I'd rather; No single patrols. Live in the community to patrol the community.

If the above along with giving officers an option to wear body mounted cameras was implemented I believe that incidents like the shooting of Michael Brown would have much less chance of resulting in riots.

riots are an excuse to vent frustration at the system and it snowballs

A camera is not going to make a difference

And if no one from the community wants to patrol it?

Bring community together to figure it out. Perhaps allow for business to juice the salary and note which business are supporting the local law enforcement with either window stickers or listing somewhere.

Idea would be to try and crowdfund and crowdsource the solution to any possible extent, empower the community.

Most of the peaceful rioters would probably accept exonerating video. remember there's been statements among protestors that some of the more violent instigators might have been from out of town....

Why exactly was this situation one where it is a mad race for individuals to make sure information supporting their side spreads the fastest?

It's like let's all take a week's break, we come back to this topic, and then we have the answers wrapped up in a clear picture of what happened. And we didn't waste any more of our lives fighting against each other.

Did anyone here gain anything in the fight?
