A 2020 study found that having a single concussion increased the risk of developing Parkinson's disease by 57% and having multiple concussions further compounds the danger”

Farve aside, this is shocking news. I rode my bike without a helmet all my childhood, easily suffered a handful of concussions. Yikes

I've probably suffered at least one concussion in my life, I was pretty young though so I wonder if that's worse or better.

personally, I don't believe a word out of Favre's mouth, when he is clearly doing this to elicit sympathy and distract from what he is testifying about, his utter and total shittiness. I need to see an independent verified diagnosis before I believe it. Sure it is a normal possibility he has it, but I don't believe him at all.

Is he claiming some sort of insanity/diminished capacity defense? The law is pretty clear on that, it's BS argument.

I wonder what effect his admission of diminished mental capacities will have on his political plans?

I've never heard CTEs or Parkinsons make you commit fraud. Some call the JAMA and have them create a study.

I feel like there was some weird plot device in the 80s and 90s where America got in its head that you could get away with crimes if you say you’re crazy or whatever and that is…very much not the case.

Yeah they very rarely are successful AFAIK. A famous rich white male in the south who can afford the best lawyers however probably has a better shot at making it work than most though or at least using a diagnosis to mitigate the potential punishment.

I have no idea if he even has Parkinsons.

But severe brain damage can cause massive personality transformations that result in insane/evil behavior.

Maybe mitigate, especially since this is a nonviolent crime. For violent crime though being found not guilty due to mental impairment can be worse than being found guilty, assuming no death penalty involvement.
