Gotta agree with Azn...as a real person he's a fucking psycho nutjob, but as an actor he's pretty good.

No he's a pretty bad actor too. There are much worse I agree though. He's OK in some limited roles like here where real acting talent isn't really needed. Or when working with a director who knows just how to use him.

Hater! Not only is he good but he has range, from Color of Money to Eyes Wide Shut to Tropic Thunder.

I wasn't a fan of Tom Cruise for a long time, but I've come to the conclusion he is actually a pretty good actor. Maybe slightly overrated but great nonetheless.

He is a good actor but he bounces back and forth between serious roles and stupid action so some people forget.
Also his personal life makes people not take him seriously as an actor. Which is a shame cuz folks love Roman Polanski even though he rapes little girls in the ass.
Makes you wonder whats up with peoples tastes.

I saw it two nights ago in IMAX. Definitely the best of the series, and worth the trip to the theatre. At $19/ticket for IMAX, I don't think it was quite worth it, but we had gift certificates so it was free.

The story was pretty good, and it seemed more like a Bond movie than previous M:I movies.

I agree with the complaint about the
fight scene at the end with the swedish guy turning into a ninja
but other than that, it was pretty entertaining.

I still think Mission Impossible is one of the best action movies ever. The last 2 were so bad that I can't see myself seeing this, no matter the reviews.

I saw this last night. The action is paced very well and there are some incredible over the top stunts. The plot is totally absurd, unless somehow someone decided the Cold War was still on. And there is enough comedic relief to never really take the whole film seriously. Best movie I've seen in the theater in over a year. Joe Bob says check it out. Tom Cruise may be a mediocre actor (in most of his movies I think I'm watching Tom Cruise and not whatever his role is supposed to be), but he may actually be one of the best stunt men to ever be in a movie. He reportedly performed the stunts in this film himself, something that has changed my view of his acting skills.

Mission Impossible plots rarely make sense. Like James Bond stories they get just deep enough so you have an excuse for all those contrived action sequences.

just got back from it.

holy shit, this movie was fucking awesome! not 1 moment was i bored in the flick and pretty much always had a smile on my face. had some extremely over the top parts but that is what you get w/these movies.

really fun movie though. and the main chick in the blue dress ... holy shit.

saw it today, and the bad guy looked very familiar, and just looked him up. He was the Mikael dude in the original The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo series. DUH.

This. Describes my reaction perfectly. I took my senior mother and I've never seen her get so into a movie! She was literally leaning so far forward during the Dubai building-scaling scene that she came entirely out of her seat and I had to put her back in. I wish I was wearing my Looxcie because she also had her arm contorted in such a crazy way while biting her finger in suspense. It was like a fist chomp someone might do during something suspensful except that her elbow was way up in the air.

IMAX was totally worth it.

I just got back from seeing it, though it had a couple annoying things like previously mentioned in this thread, I thought that it was quite enjoyable overall. There were a couple of moments during that tower scene that I started getting nervous 😛

I thought the first was probably the worst because it was too predictable. I knew who the villain was in the first 15 minutes, and I'm usually not too great at predicting these things!

EDIT:

Oh and about the movie. I did see an interesting complaint that the villain wasn't very... villainous? It's almost the "Star Trek Syndrome" like how Nero was pretty much not really part of the movie, but was mostly used in name.

The French Assassin though... rawr!

EDIT 2:

Hmm everyone talks about how good it is in IMAX. Perhaps I should go to the theater that's further away that has an IMAX screen. 😀
