me to.

I try to go to a local team called the "ice hogs". tickets are $20 for good seats and my kids have a blast.

hockey is so much better in person then on tv. but i do enjoy watching on tv.

You are lucky. You get to watch Hawks players. The wolves..well they are the vancouver minor league team. No way will I give that franchise any money. Hate them more than detroit.
Was nice to hear all the booing the wolves got when they played at home this past weekend (watched some on tv).

I may have to watch one of LA Kings' affiliate teams play just to help with my hockey fix.

I am missing it. But I hope the players dont cave, because at this point the owners are being retardedly greedy. 4 lockouts in 20 years? Cmon, you got everything you wanted last time around and now you want MORE? Good lord.

There's some decent college teams around here that are fun to watch. Until the NFL season is over I'll be okay. The Avalanche haven't been very good lately anyway so I've been losing interest.

Avs have a lot of really good young players, I think they will be good in a year or two.

wait, there's a hockey lockout?

sweeeeet, none of that crap on ESPN.

Yeah, 'cause ESPN used to show soo much hockey.

I used to care about the NHL until they convinced me that it was silly of me to care more about it than the players and the owners care about it. Now I don't give a flying f what they do.

Exactly. After the first lockout in '05, I didn't really want to come back to the NHL right away. I figured maybe let them sqirm a little bit, lower ticket prices, really show me that they wanted me back. But everyone else ran back to them like lost little puppies, and I think that's why we have another lockout now: the players and owners just don't think they're risking anything by cancelling all these games.

I'll be catching some ECHL games in Trenton. The NHL can go F themselves as far as I'm concerned. Maybe I'll think about going back in 2-3 years.

I really think that both the players and owners have no case.

Owners got what they wanted the last time; they should live with the CBA a little longer, even if they don't like it.

The players are getting a bigger share of revenue than players in other major sports. Their salaries have gone up every year since the first lockout as the increased parity has allowed more teams to compete and stoked more interest in the game. They were clearly wrong about fighting this CBA, so they should tuck their tail between their legs and trust the owners this time.

That's why I have no sympathy for either side.

How is Detroit financials? I don't understand how the team is surviving.

Consistently in the top 4 attendance,20+ straight years in the playoffs, good tv deal, billionaire owner who spends, i have no idea how the team survives financially either...

Abbotsford is way too damn far. I do want to go to a Giants game, but it's kind of a pain in the ass to get to, so I'll just wait for the stupid NHL to sort itself out.

That is a great offer and inline with all the other sports and calls for no roll back. They can't get a better offer.
Yup, but only if the league hasn't taken any previously agreed upon items off the table.

If Fehr puts the kibosh on this his agenda will have been exposed.

Well the argument has been all along about two things. One the split percentage and what is considered hockey revenue. So who knows where they are as to what is considered hockey related revenue. But no way can NHL players expect better than a 50/50 split considering they trail all the other major sports and all the other sports are 50/50 splits.

I personally don't see why players should get any revenue, they already get paid their salary.

I understand those issues but what does the NHLPA get in return for reducing their share to 50%?

Don't get me wrong, I hope it works. But just because 50/50 is a nice, round number, doesn't mean it solves everything. The NHL has still yet to "give" anything in these negotiations.

Didn't they "give" a lot last CBA?

Over the summer I promised myself if they weren't playing games by opening day (Oct 11?) I'd be done with the NHL. They screwed me one too many times, and even though the end was in sight of my suffering with those dreadful Oilers, I'm gonna stay strong and boycott the shit out of that league.
Sadly, I don't like any of the other big three leagues either, so my sporting days look to be coming to a close.

I just got this in an email from a buddy. I don't have twitter so I can't speak to the legitamacy.

John Shannon ‏@JSportsnet
If the players take 50-50...offers on other keys issues as follows...
Free Agency would be at 28 and 8 years of service.
Entry Level Contracts would be 4 years in Length.
Revenue sharing would be at or near 200 million dollars
Contract Lengths would be 5 years.
Arbitration would still exist.
The only core issue that remains intact from previous NHL offers is the length on contracts (on all new deals).
