Minutmen/Save Our State & Neo-Nazi's join forces against Immigration

On Saturday July 30,2005 in Laguna Beach,CA twenty-five Minutmen/Save Our State and neo-Nazis raised a display of U.S. and neo-Nazi flags while protesting day laborers. They came from up to 2-3 hours away to harrass,terrorize, and spit on local day laborers in Laguna Beach.. and were instead met with over 150 residents who responded and made it clear that racist scapegoating is not welcome in our community.

One hundred and fifty or more angry counter-protestors stood up to twenty-five Save Our State/Minutman project members and neo-Nazis today to thwart harassment of day laborers at the Laguna Beach Day Labor Center. To the stunned amazement of the counter-protestors, Minutmen/Save Our State members showed their true colors when the neo-Nazis raised a Save our State (SOS) banners along with Confederate flag and several large Hitler youth flags, with German swastikas on a horizontal red and white striped background, amidst a field of U.S. and California flags in the parking lot across from the center.

Steeple, you are constantly inflaming the issue, it is NOT anti-immigration. It is anit-illegals getting into this county.

How can you say that this bill is anit-immigration? what exactly in the bill proposes that?

Is there ANYTHING in this bill that stipulates that we will no longer let people into this country by ways of legal means?...no

It is to stem the flow of illegal aliens getting into this county, people who once inside have no way or reason to be responsible for anything except themselves and we are just supposed to assume that they will get in here and be responsible upright citizens? Sorry no. They have showed by sneaking in here in the first place that there is a certain level of distrust.

Everyone desevers a certain amount of respect...like the basics, I won't steal from you, physically attack you or say things to degrade you as a person.

Anything other than that you have to earn. And well, by sneaking and I am supposed to automatically give you the same level of respect I would a person who has gone though the motions and got here the legal way? again..sorry no.

People who are demonstrating against this bill are slapping the face of everyone who did get here legally, it is an insult to everyone who has worked to get here and once here is productive.

This is not any racist thing, if it was the Canadians that were flowing in here like water, then that is where the focus would be...but they are not.

We have enough illegals in this country, the hole in the damn that is the Mexican boarder is the size of the Barringer Crater, and needs to be closed NOW. We also need to tighten the secutrity of our north and put greater emphisis on our ports...so see there is a lot that needs to be done but you fix the biggest problems first and that happens to be the Mexican boarder.

How safe is safe enough? How far will fear push americans, and what will it push them into supporting next? Should we all move into gated communitys? how about we all just curl up in a ball and surrender to osama? He has pretty much won if mainstream america is so scared they have aligned themselves with some of our most radical extremists already.

It makes perfect sense if you step back from the background noise and look what we have become, our relations with the world are at a lowpoint, we have started getting suspicious of our canadian neighbors, turned on our immigrant population from down south, talk of militarizing our southern borders, lots of fear about ports, our political divide in america is BAD, with one side literally saying half the country are in bed with our enemies, we are scared of our own shadows even to the point of willingly giving away our privacy to our own government.

yes terrorism is horrible but there has ALWAYS been terrorism, even the romans had to worry about there own versions of it, it is a blight on our world and probably always will be as long as there are extremists somewhere desperate to make a point. Instead of seeing why people do this crap we have gone on a paranoid rampage across the world making far more enemies.
And osama just laughs and laughs for he knows from fighting the soviet union it is not millions of dollars in military hardware to take down a superpower, it is the superpowers own fear and kneejerk spending that will lead them to shoot themselves in the foot.
What has this country become? How could one man scare so many people into throwing so much that made us great into the toilet and to pit us all against one another.

If anyone cared to do enough research on this article, you'd find that the NAZI party showed-up after the Minutemen rally was taking place and stole the show from them. They then proceded to claim that the Minutemen were really a part of the NAZI party--obvious stunt to make the Minutemen appear as something they are not.

I do care where legal immigrants come from. For example I heard just this morning that immigrants from Italy have 2 percent rate of going on welfare while Mexican immigrants is 20 percent.
So, yeah, I do have a preference for allowing in people from countries that have a consistently good record for fast assimiliaton and of quickly becoming self sufficient.

Yes and no. We can't just let anyone in because they want in. We can afford to be picky.

I think a prerequiste should be that they can write and read English. If they can do that then I think they will be able to be assimilated into the American melting pot. My understanding is that English is taught in every school in Mexico, it's just that the people teaching it can't really speak it, so I don't really see that as a big barrier.

The next stumbling block is how many do we let in? Surely we should let qualified people from all over the world in, not just Mexico. I would favor a large Mexican quota since they are right next door/. In the long run it would be a stablizing factor for NA.

I'm totally against the way it is being done now. It's just cheap labor for the well connected.
