Err excuse me! ,no I didn't & I bet the vast majority of TA didn't either (I don't recall the story, remind me via PM if you wish).
I & most TA members would welcome any extra firepower & wouldn't really care if it knocked us down a spot 😉
If the story is as straightforward(?) as you've mentioned then I (& most likely most in this thread at least) would of stood up for you (assuming we were about of course).
If you re-read this thread carefully you will see that it isn't an anti-mini team thread as you appear to think it is ,in fact it is showing that there is overwhelming support for them! 🙂
I am sorry that you left TA but please don't make sweeping generalisations.
If it transpires that I argued with you then I can asure you at least that I wasn't complaining because of your crunching power ,I would only welcome that 🙂
Btw it is correct that their are rules for how to behave in the forums (they are part of the AT forum rules too remember) ,otherwise it would be anarchy wouldn't it?.
Didn't you have a rather firey temper? ,wasn't that part of it? 😉 (my memory is stirring very slightly ,of course it could be wrong & I'm thinking of someone else 😉)
I don't want to re-open any old wounds but I felt I should make a few things clear.
I hope your happy in your new team & projects 🙂 ,what are you crunching these days?
All the best
I made one generalization because the problem that I had (mostly through PMs and IRC made by members of this board) came from multiple sources. They did not want my participation during a race because my herd would have skewed results. As I said, I don't hold a grudge against those members anymore and frankly my memory is such that I can not recall the details of the event or who even said it to me but they were prominent members.
Further, I was offering my support of mini teams, and believe me when I say that starting the PRS-TWTA kept me cracking for longer than I would have alone. The response was one of why even have this discussion/problem. What does it matter if somebody does not care for miniteams? There does not seem to be a reason for the thread to try to support miniteams unless there is resentment against them. The resentment is what I do not get.
Finally, I am all for rules based forums. But I never cared for the rules within the rules. That is a seperate argument which I will not get into. I wish members would just abide by the official forum rules instead of trying to enforce their own on other members in addition. But hey, this is from an ex-member who has not witnessed any changes in the forums for years, so it may have stopped/gotten better.
Oh, and I have not cracked anything really since I left the team (went elsewhere for a couple months, gave up, not the same, etc). Although for a short while I did create a DC program to break the RSA-576 or whatever project (ran a closed alpha test of that (which actually worked, heck it was even multithreaded!)). While the program was never officially released, it was more of a learning tool and I of course mentioned it at interviews.
JonB - Ah yes, the fun of UT. My keyboard only skills were amazing (ly bad). My first cruncher was an overclocked P120 to 133 (finally retired from active duty 2 years ago).
Freewolf - thanks for the offer, I remember when the Rebel Alliance started, but I am an Imperial at heart... You rebel scum!
🙂
