I just bought a Cooler Master NR200 case and need a mini-itx motherboard for a 5600G APU. I don't want to spend a fortune since the AM4 socket's days are numbered. I do want to sensibly overclock the 5600g gpu and maybe the cpu itself as well as my 2x8GB DDR4 3200 RAM. I may even OC a dGPU if I decide to go that way as I'm undecided on what to do with my 7970, R9 fury and RX 6600. Any suggestions or advice would be appreciated.

P.S. How many watts would a PSU need for system with an overclocked 5600G and RX6600 combo?

Edit: Am I right in thinking there isn't much sense getting anything higher than a B450 since the 5600G is Pcie 3.0? Any advantage in getting something better?

Good news is the BIOS is the latest version. I've been trying to get this thing running on a bench for hours. I think my entire problem has been getting a signal to the two monitors I have tried. I think I may have gotten that sorted out and the igpu working. Not sure if I can have the igpu running with a dgpu installed though. I don't see an auto setting in the bios. It's either one or the other.

Should this cpu be idling at close to 50C with a big cooler on the bench? MB temp says 27C. I may have to pull the cooler and reapply the paste Sat.

I surmised it would have a current bios. It stops a lot of returns from happening.

The board may have aggressive settings OOB, and since power management isn't active, 50c is very possible.

EDIT: I am on a Asus right now, but the setting to allow iGPU and dGPU is under advanced -northbridge - IGFX multi monitor. You should have a version of that.

It's good that it came with the latest BIOS. In addition to returns it can really boost a motherboards reviews and lessen the "it didn't support my cpu" negative reviews.

It seems like the CPU voltage was showing over 1.4v in the BIOS so you could be on to something about OOB settings. I'm going to visit family tonight so I'll double check tomorrow and boot into windows to check the temps. I was amazed when this system booted into my old cpu/mb combo windows install without an internet connection.

I'll double check to see what I changed to get the igpu working. It was in the AMD - PBS section if I recall. I still might need to change something else though. My MB's manual bios section is severely lacking so it's no help.

You were right about the temps. I ran cinebench multi-core for 10 min. and the highest temp I saw was 65.1C. I believe the cpu fans are still set to silent in the BIOS.

I'm having a reoccurring issue. My monitor is not getting a signal when I boot or restart. I just see a black screen when I boot into BIOS or Windows or restart to Windows or BIOS. I have to turn the monitor off and back on again to get it to work. It happens on two monitors, one with hdmi and the other display port. Have you ever seen anything like this before? I've set the HDMI monitor's settings to use the HDMI port and Eco mode is off. This feels like a BIOS issue. Could this be because my MB is not grounded to my case because I'm bench testing?

Edit: Temp mounting the MB in the case with 2 screws did not help.

I found two settings in the BIOS.

Advanced - AMD PBS - Graphics features - Primary Video Adapter - Int Graphics (IGP) -or- Ext Graphics (PEG). Either setting does not matter in fixing my issue.

Advanced - AMD CBS - NBIO - Common Options - GFX Configuration - GFX Configuration - Igpu Configuration (default setting is Auto).

I've had similar things happen on this Asus ROG STRIX B450-F connected to a 40" Avera HDTV. Sometimes, on boot or restart, the BIOS doesn't show up, just no signal. But if I'm careful with the keyboard, and watch the lights and whatnot, it IS booting into BIOS.

But the BIOS display, needs me to shut off and restart the monitor to enable the display.

I chalk it up to an AMD BIOS bug.

Thanks Larry. That is exactly the same as my issue. It will even boot all the way into Windows with a black screen. You could be right about it being a AMD BIOS bug but wouldn't we be hearing about it from more people?

I also wonder if it's my cables or the newer type HDMI/Display port MB outputs or if its because the newer type outputs don't like my cables or monitors.

* Build note: Never buy a motherboard that only has 4x 90 degree sata ports unless you know for certain it will work with your case. I had a do a radical bend in my sata cable. It makes me want to spend money on a large M.2 for the rear of the MB so I don't have to use my existing HDDs and SSDs. A M.2 would also eliminate two or more cables. Do they make reverse 90 degree sata cables? By reverse I mean when they are plugged into the MB they go up instead of down.

Apparently this setup doesn't like my HDMI or display port cables. I just tried another HDMI cable with the one monitor and it seems to be working normally. I hope this fixes the issue for good.

Not all cables are created equally. I would hit the other ones with some electronics cleaner spray and let them sit a bit. If they still black screen, may be out of spec or poor quality overall.
