Not a bad decision you have to make...it's not like you can go wrong here ;)

Free maintenence for 3 years/36.000 miles ;)

welcome to BMW/MB's 3 year/36 thousand mile free maitenance plan friend. Just two days ago the brake lights on the SLK started crapping out, and the dealer gave me an new assembly for free, as well as the stndard MB oil change which costs:
$150!!! for a fvcking oil change!!!!!

It's also just me, my girlfriend, and my 35lb dog and I LOVE my MINI Cooper S (The back seats can fold down nicely for long trips with the dog).

I dare you to test drive both cars and not fall in love with the MINI. The handling and overall design is exceptional in my opinion.

A couple pics from when I picked up the car about 2 months ago:

Two great MINI sites to learn all you could ever want to know:

Check the forums at: Mini2.com
General MINI news: MotoringFile.com

Oh, and you've probably played with this, but the they have a great site where you can build and price your own MINI Cooper S.

NAM is a much better forum for American owners.

We went back to the mini dealer today to test drive one, but all were already spoken for. :(

Wait wait wait - that's about all they sell and they were out of them? Did they have a black friday sale?

If it were a weekend car to wring out on the weekends around curvy roads, the Cooper S hand down. I just couldn't see myself driving one everyday.

But for a car for the daily grind, and one that I would want to keep for 5+ years, I'd pick the tC. It's roomier (and it should be, it's built off a European family car chassis) and it has a more tractable motor.

I see the Cooper S as being dancing shoes while the tC is a pair of loafers. Sure, the dancing shoes are perfect when you want to "cut a rug", but the loafers are better suited for more situations.

Its a BMW and a Mini Dealer, so technically its not the only thing they sell.

tC for the looks. Mini for the fun. I'd go with the mini. once you test drive it, you'll be hooked

Also does anyone have a link to the chart showing how to have sex in a Mini?

I'd like to see this. Also, if anyone has this for a '98 Escort ZX2, it would be helpful reference for where not to put A/V equipment.

Cooper. High resale value, not as common, and they look cooler. I was going to get an RX8 until I drove one, now I'm on a waiting list for the convertible S coming out :)

Don't be a complete moron. The S is not a practical car if you dont have another larger car in the family. And the Scion tC is a POS.

Its only me, fiancee, and a medium dog (40lbs)

Sounds fine to me...why would they need a bigger car?
