Miller is the best tasting of the cheap beers

Miller high life is pretty drinkable for me. For a cheap party it works pretty well and for me tastes better than the alternatives. Here it's cheap enough to not worry about anything cheaper.

I actually have about 8 cans in my fridge now that I think about it. A couple might have gone bad, but oh well. 😛

I've never understood calling people beer snobs. If I enjoy a good meal cooked by a well trained chef using quality ingredients over a #2 at McDonald's am I also a snob? If someone enjoys a fine wine over a cheap $5 box of it are they also a snob?

I think a "beer snob" is someone who flat-out refuses to drink cheaper beer under any circumstances, not just someone who prefers the good stuff.

I go in for PBR (nationwide), Rainier (PNW), or Natty Bo (Baltimore) if I want some beer and don't want to pay a lot of money for it. However, I try to make sure that I have the good stuff on hand if I'm just going to be drinking one or two.

The same people who like crap beer produced by the top five American brewers are the same people responsible for the success of fast food and other gustatory horrors. Make no mistake about it, the fact that so many drink these beers is a marketing triumph.

Just like the fast food aficionados, drinkers of mass produced lowest common denominator beers make up the majority of people. Too bad good taste isn't democratic. Just because everyone eats and drinks doesn't entitle everyone to a worthwhile opinion on food and drink.

Few people participate in any of the other arts and readily agree that proficiency in those arts requires knowledge, training and talent. But, put a PBR/Miller/Coors in front of them and they'll opine at disgusting length about the relative virtues.

Beer Snob in training.

Meh. I'm 4 deep in miller lite right now, but there is a shelf of craft brews in my fridge. Personally I'm not into belgians or wheats, because many(but not all) remind me of some horrid fluoride mouthwash I had to endure in 3rd grade.

I have a several 80+ dollar bottles of bourbon on my shelf, but I also like some old forrester for mixing.

I like the Simple Times or whatever it's called stuff from Trader Joe's. At $2.99 for a six pack it's as cheap as anything within a few blocks of my house (and I'm too lazy to walk farther than that).

Old Forrester's the shit. That's my favorite regular bourbon by far. For good stuff I like Blantons.

Good stuff, Blantons is very smooth for the cost. Haven't had it in years, remember it having some vanilla to it. Too busy trying out new ones, but I always say good things about it. Need to pick some up one day.

Wellers is another decent regular bourbon.

I'm not a huge bourbon aficionado. I like it every so often, but I prefer scotch and Irish. My top 3 bourbons are probably Old Forrester, Blantons, and Knob Creek. I think I may grab a glass of Knob Creek before bed as a matter of fact. I haven't had it in quite awhile :^)

Miller High life > Bud + Coors

Miller light > Bud lite + Coors lite

Miller Genuine Draft is also good, but cant be considered a cheap beer since it's more than $0.50 each in a 12pack.

Discuss NOW!

It's because Miller Light was the first light beer. My room mate in college learned this in an econ class. Used to be if you ordered a 'light' it was just miller, you didn't even have to say the miller part.

Give Woodford Reserve a try. Or I will beat you.

Will do :^D

What would you say is the best bourbon? Not necessarily the most expensive, but the best representation of the art.

I wouldn't.

There are 100000000001 ways to make it. Buffalo Trace is doing some fun things, but not all of them are labeled buffalo trace. There are a few blenders in Ky that you might not get elsewhere(Rowans Creek) that I like but they aren't making their own product from start to finish, just making a flavor profile and mixing others stuff. But it is good.

So, if you want to appreciate it, try it. It's like picking the best day of the year. A lot are good, some suck, but you gotta get through em all.

But if you're ever in Ireland, never buy Beer de france. Or maybe it was biere de france. That wasn't worth trying.

Agreed. I switched from Bub/bud light to miller/miller light many years ago. Highlife is a pretty damn good beer.

Agreed. I'm a huge beer snob, but High Life kicks ass among the cheapies. Champagne of beer. I also love the occasional silver bullet.

If I don't want to spend much, I usually go for Blvd. Brewing Co. Lunar Ale or Michelob Dunkel Weisse. It's usually $6 for a 6-pack, which sounds about double what people are talking about here. However, that's the cheapest stuff I've ever had.

Yuengling is the best bang for the buck, but if I still don't have enough I'll go with PBR. I won't pay for the other cheap stuff. I'll drink it if someone else pays for it though. 😛
