Think what your response to that would be. Then, think about who exactly are the tolerant ones in society, and who are the ones who really need to grow up.

Last time I checked, atheists weren't spending millions of dollars to run a campaign that would prevent you from practicing your fairy tales.

Regardless of what you think, religion has been leading the intolerance brigade since its creation. To even say or think religion is a tolerant force is a complete and utter fallacy.

Last time I checked, religious people were not spending millions of dollars to stop gays from being who they are. Get a firm grip on reality then we can have a discussion.

And the analogy was that you are more intolerant of religious people than those here at ATOT you called homophobes are of gays. I'd say your response confirms this.

He's kind of hit and miss. He did a good job in Mystic River and Colors but totally sucked in All the Kings Men

some religious folks do spend lots of money to stop gays from being who they are - I'm thinking of religious right funding and promotion of "conversion therapy" treatments which aim to convert gay people into heterosexuals... also thinking of religious right funding of political measures to deprive gay people of basic rights..

You are still portraying all religions based on what a small percentage of people do. Blame "conversion therapy" on the parents? I'm sure he was referring to the support for Prop 8, nothing else. Look, on on the whole, todays religions are tolerant of gays, they just draw the line at marriage. I don't blame them. Show me two gay men who have biologically reproduced and created a child together, and I too will take up the fight for gay marriage.

The whole bottom line is that religions do a lot of good things for a lot of underprivileged people. They are not just groups of crotchety old farts sitting in a room somewhere visioning new ways to hate on others - which is the portrayal by far too many loons here and elsewhere.

Actually I expected that of Brokeback Mountain going in but after being forced to watch it I thought it was good. I think it is a tougher sell though because of the awkwardness of seeing two dudes butthumping on screen.
