About to head out with my girlfriend to see this movie. It had a limited release date on the 26th, but its officially out today. This film has received some excellent reviews so I'm excited to see it.

I would highly suggest some of you anti-gay bigots to see it as well. Might open your eyes a bit.

But it's acting. Just because homosexuality happens to be a touchy issue right now doesn't mean that it somehow demands more credence and authenticity when put on film. I'd rather have a good straight actor play a gay guy than a meh gay actor play a gay guy.

In that vein, I'd be horrified if they had child molesters play child molesters or serial murderers play serial murderers!

As far as the movie goes, it's been rated so well that I suppose I'll look into it, but Sean Penn has always taken himself so seriously that he ruins the viewing experience for me. Shrug.
 
What an amazing movie. Sean Penn and all the supporting actors put on a great performance.

Although less violent, I can't believe this battle still is being fought today. One thing I noticed about the audience in the theater was that it consisted of straight couples between the ages of 20-30 and of course the gay couples. Judging from this, I really don't think the hate and bigotry against gays will be gone until the baby boomers and their children die off. Mark my words, if Obama ignores this issue, my generation will be the ones to put an end to this.
 
This seems like one of those films critics will have a circlejerk over but isn't actually very good.. I will give it a shot though. I just remember Crash and how much that movie sucked but you can tell it would get great reviews when you watched it.
