Military training by firing blank machine gun rounds in miami

LOL @ 'Blackhawk Downtown,' that sounds like a Daily Show caption.

Did they appear to be shooting round over the highway? As in, if they weren't blanks, the bullets would be travelling over it? Or were they literally flying over the highway and raining casings/links on people? Even if it was just a 240B, those things spit out a lot of shit.

edit: Finally sifted through the newscrap and saw the footage. That was a .50cal. And that was very little shooting.

But yeah, they were right over the highway. Dumb.

And since they're not announcing, or fore-warning this to the public, what would happen if the public fired back? LOL

why would they be training to attack a city is what bothers me.

It's not like it was one person... This was a coordinated effort between LEO and the military.

They went through the effort of loading up the heli with blank rounds. I cannot fathom why they would do that unless it was to practice firing them on miami citizens.

Yep...whole lots of fail here. Jesus christ not that long ago there was an uproar just flying Air Force One low over New York City for a photo-op (Director of the White House Military Office stepped down over it)...and this is MUCH MUCH worse. Totally unacceptable to be firing blank rounds in a city like that....I was in the Army for nine years and never would have fathomed this would be acceptable to do in ANY built up civilian area...much less DOWNTOWN MIAMI. Plenty of heads should roll for this stupidity.

Maybe it's just me, but I would feel much safer without the snarled, backed up, distracted traffic. A half dozen military copters zooming at low level in between, and on residential, and office buildings, firing machine guns, dropping brass shell casings, detonating large explosive devices. Paniced
people, and pets. Has anyone thought of what would happen if one of these copters clipped a wire, a building, another copter, or had a mechanical failure, pilot error?( collateral damage?).
I have trained with the Army, and the National Guard for crowd/riot control, and urban warfare, and on every large base I have ever been at we had mock villages, and mini cities, and streets to train on. Sometimes we didn't even use blanks to make it seem real.

We are training the soldiers to get used to YOU. Those that are hesitant WILL be weeded out, (trust me, I've been there).

This isn't an isolated event in just one city. It has been occurring across
the country for many years now.
Anyone here old enough to remember what happened in Philly on May 13 1985?
