Anyone else hear about this on ESPN within the past hour? Talk about a steal of a trade; a Cy Young pitcher and potential Triple Crown hitter? Wow.
Only link I can find thus far: Steal

Willis won't win another Cy Young ever, you can count on that...
He'll probably be OK until hiters figure him out like they did in the NL.
Picking up Miggy is a heist though - a 24 year old Manny Ramirez.

Yep, ESPN TV has it and now the site does too. Done deal. And they gave away nothing, typical Marlins fire sale.
We in Detroit have been hearing about Maybin like he was the second coming of Ty Cobb for a few years now. He is still pretty green. Miller is the real deal. He'll be very good for many years.Originally posted by: raystorm

Isn't Cameron Maybin supposed to be one of those five tool prospects?? Adam Miller has pretty good stuff too plus they get a few more prospects too. The Marlins can't afford to keep Miggy and they still can't get a new stadium deal. I could of sworn I read somewhere that the Marlins lease at Dolphin Stadium ends in 2010 and it won't be renewed.
This is the Tigers new lineup as far as I know:
Curtis Granderson
Placido Polanco
Miguel Cabrera
Magglio Ordonez
Gary Sheffield
Carlos Guillen
Edgar Renteria
Ivan Rodriguez
Jacque Jones
Not too shabby eh? Sheffield has got to stay healthy.

Believe me, giving up Maybin and Miller is HUGE. Those 2 guys are both going to be long time all-stars. They're still really young. That being said, I love the deal for the Tigers. Cabrera is a HUGE bat at 3B (while I love Brandon Inge as a 3B, his bat is a liability), and Willis will give them a lot of innings.

I'm interested to know how Dontrelle got into this deal.

I'd like to know that too. Dontrelle had his worst year yet but he looked a bit strange at times. His last couple of starts against the Mets he looked sort of wasted. His delivery was inconsistent and seemed out of gas from the get go. It was possible that he was hurt a bit or maybe he was fooling around too much (he's had a few issues like a dui last season). Maybe being in a contender and playing under Leyland will light a fire in Dontrelle. He's a gamer and is fun to watch. Sucks that he won't be hitting anymore because he has some pop in his bat. He hit 2 homers in a game against the Mets in September if I remember correctly.

Miller was nothing special in his starts this season. He's young though so who knows. To me it seems aside from Maybin, the Marlins gained a bunch of second-tier prospects; nobody anyone's been talking about at least.
Don't know what they we're thinking, the Angels seemed to be offering more value JUST for Cabrera. I'm interested to know how Dontrelle got into this deal.

seriously. if the sox add santana to a roster with becket, matzusaka, wakefield, lester, papelbon, schilling (?), buckholtz, and the rest... no one will stand a chance.
