It's really only useful if you need to be at more than a couple websites at any given time, sometimes I do (when working on websites, or working on a long post where I need lots of links, or monitoring multiple forums). So I keep Opera, Firefox, Maxthon and K-Meleon on my machine just for those times when I need more features. Most of the time, IE does the job I need it to do extremely well, and extremely fast, so I stick with that.

I'll stick with IE... seems like every time I tried Firefox, I ran into websites that didn't work correctly on it, it was much slower too, especially displaying images.

People say you need to "tweak" it to make it viable... is there a guide to such tweaks? I want it as fast or faster than IE with great compatibility, if that's not possible then it's not worth switching to. Show me the tweaks!

Yeah, i don't like FF either. I love Opera, but i liek free better. I use Avant which is like IE.

Not really. Folks who code pages strictly for IE lose a portion of their target audience.

Exactly. I've designed a few webpages in my day, trying to adhere as closely as possible to W3C standards, valid CSS, valid XHTML etc. Why? Because I want my web pages to be accessible and extensible. That is the goal of webstandards. However, as hard as I try, often IE fails to display the page correctly. So I have to design an "IE version", conceding to the fact that 80%+ users will be using that browser. I often have to write bad code, and use hacks to get the page to display for it, which completely negates the point of writing extensible code in the first place.

MS IE "standards" is a mess. A big, obstinate, proprietary, broken mess. But I'm a cynical and bitter old man so that is to be expected anyway.
