Umm, you could do this with any software company. I don't find the funny in this one. That's just how Microsoft labels their packages, so what? Labeling software like Office or WinXP requires more info than a simple piece of hardware that plays music.

Microsoft has a tendency to rip off other company's software. DOS? Stolen from Unix. MS Windows? Rip off of the Mac interface. Etc.

hahaha awesome. But, the redesigned, even though it contained a bunch of crap, actually looked GOOD. I'm actually among the few who likes organized content, and the creator did a pretty good job of it haha.

IPOD box is ok, but it looks a bit tooo plain. but of course, it has to stay on cue w/ the product's design as well.

designing a hardware box != designing a box for software.

NAME ONE SOFTWARE that looks like an ipod box :/

wtf? get your facts straight?

and whocares? microsoft did an arguably better job. Their business practice lead them to be extremely successful.

DOS wasn't stolen, it was bought (from Seattle Comp..or something. QDOS, meaning Quick and Dirty OS). although i never knew DOS was stolen from UNIX? umm... unless you're talking about the VI crap...? I highly doubt DOS is a derivative of vi. no idea where you got taht idea. just your head making the connection?

as for GUI's, that idea was already common ideas. "ohh ya apple was the first company to use GUI's widespreadly, so anyone else who implements it afterwards are imitators.."

Apparently I'm the only one, but that didn't even garner a slight chuckle from me.

Although true, it just wan't funny.

The simplicity makes it stand out.

Edit:
And Microsoft's HARDWARE packaging is like that. Just look at thier mouse packaging next time you're in a store.

Did you even watch the video? It wasn't about the ipod itself, it was about packaging and how MS would make a simplistic but attractive box, busy.

Show me a manufacturer aside from Apple that doesn't do that.

Apparently I'm the only one that didn't find it true OR funny.

Just some apple fan that likes everything white and barren.

Hardly the poor design job the author showed in the video. This is clean and linear with the product shown front and center, nice and out there to see. The author of the video implied the total opposite.
