The request of the TPM 2.0 had to be planned and announced very well in advance, not suddenly as it was done. If instead they want to now emphasize that there was an agreement with the manufacturers since 2016 and that therefore all systems compatible windows 10 from that date are now compliant with this requirement (here we always talk about complete systems,CPUs,motherboards those affected by the TPM):

a)it is not understood why some CPUs produced after 28 july 2016 and that have the TPM inside (fTPM or PTT) are excluded

b) let me know Microsoft to which e-mail address I have to send the documentation, because I have here in front of me a Windows 10 system of the end of 2020 with CPU supported by your win11 list that does not have the TPM activable. They think about agreeing with the manufacturer of this system...and solve my problem

The reality is that, at least at the time of the current insider build, nothing actually requires the controversial requirements. I just upgraded a VM that uses BIOS/MBR, no secure boot, no TPM, on a Haswell proxmox host to Win11 insider and it works just like 10. So all the code to support these older systems, even the BIOS boot loader, is still perfectly there.
Where did you get Windows 11 Insider build? I went to their ISO download page and logged in, and all the listed builds are Win10.

I already had the VM on the dev channel since... the day it was built. Just went into Windows Update, whacked 'check for updates', and it downloaded the new build. No different than any Win10 insider build.

I'm going to sign up one of my sandy bridge laptops for the insider program now, just to see what happens. :)

If you really want to run Win11 but the hardware could not pass the test, you can run it as a VM. With fast SSD/NVMe drive, that shouldn't bother too much.

5. Virtual Machine
Microsoft recognizes that the user experience when running the Windows 11 in virtualized environments may vary from the experience when running non-virtualized. So, while Microsoft recommends that all virtualized instances of the Windows 11 follow the same minimum hardware requirements as described in Section 1.2, the Windows 11 does not apply the hardware-compliance check for virtualized instances either during setup or upgrade

You can also avoid MS account by using Windows Pro instead Windows Home.

Well, that didn't go far - that laptop was actually already on the release preview branch of the insider program, and it says "Your PC does not meet the minimum hardware requirements for Windows 11. Your channel options will be limited."

And out of my 3 Sandy Bridge laptops, this one I think has a TPM 1.2 and UEFI boot. The late PC Health Check utility fails it for lacking secure boot. I think the other two laptops are not worth trying because I don't think they have UEFI boot or TPMs.

(The grand irony, of course, is that it's perfectly happy with a VM without those things. But they did say VMs are exempt from requirements enforced against bare metal systems.)

Let's see what happens with my bare metal Haswell OptiPlex...

Let's see what happens with my bare metal Haswell OptiPlex...

Haswell says "Your PC does not meet the minimum requirements recommended for Windows 11 and there may be issues and bugs that impact on your experience. But it ... seems to let me join the dev channel. Let's see here...

Upon reboot, it looked like it was about to download the Windows 11 build anyways, but then I decided to leave the insider program. Need to think a little more about whether I want to blow up that machine with a beta release of Windows first. But it certainly sounded like it was one "check for updates" away from installing.

I'm not signing up my main i7 7700 for the insider program, so I'm out of machines. Unless anybody thinks I should take some Core 2 Duos that haven't run in 5 years out of my closet? If there was a bootable Win11 insider ISO that could be fun, no?

Where can insider program members get the ISO? Systems registered in the insider program can get it from Windows Update, but that's a little different...

The request of the TPM 2.0 had to be planned and announced very well in advance, not suddenly as it was done.
Since July 28, 2016, all new device models, lines or series (or if you are updating the hardware configuration of a existing model, line or series with a major update, such as CPU, graphic cards) must implement and enable by default TPM 2.0 (details in section 3.7 of the Minimum hardware requirements page). The requirement to enable TPM 2.0 only applies to the manufacturing of new devices.

No, you need to change your insider setting to Dev channel.
To download the ISO file off of MS's web site using Firefox?

I'm not talking about pulling it down via Windows Update on a PC set to Insider Dev Channel.

That news blurb specifically said "ISO release". There is no public release of Win11 ISO yet, at least, not officially, that I can see, for Windows Insiders.

Oh ok. I didn't look for an iso, sorry.

I found out how you can make an iso. Thanks to reddit!

  1. Head to https://uupdump.net/
  2. Click Windows 11 Insider Preview 10.0.22000.51 (co_release) amd64 (or arm64 if applicable)
  3. Select your language, click next
  4. Untick all editions except 'Windows 10 Pro' (the mention of W10 here is normal)
  5. Tick ‘Download and convert to ISO’, leave the rest as default (if applicable), click 'Create download package'
  6. Extract .zip and run 'uup_download_windows.cmd' as admin.
  7. Monitor progress through cmd till completion. All files are grabbed from official MS servers.
  8. Profit.
You will be left with a W11 Pro iso, straight from Microsoft. Mount and install, or create a bootable USB drive, I would recommend using Rufus in this case.

For those unaware, uupdump is reputable and the source code can be found here.

I think MS has shut off the UUDump method, it gives a red "ERR" for downloading most of the packages.
