The funny thing is, is I cant afford anything I want, and again it took some of the tax money I get back over the years to get what you see in my sig, for the rest of the year after that, I cant really buy too much of anything, for I make sure my family is taken care of, and what you see in my sig IS going to last me another 5-6 years, when I start to put another system together to keep up with what my son and I play 😉

And as far as the credit card goes is that this is to be a credit card (sorta) has the mastercard logo on it, but they didnt buy the games using paypal, they used it as credit, using the paypal credit card. We have yet again changed his, and my passwords on everything, and did the pin as well that you have to put in to make a purchase, but lets be real here, if the hacked their system to get his password and everything, the 2nd time, though we changed it all 1 week prior when he got hit the first time, why cant they just get the pin number too through the system now as well? I have now taken ALL forms of purchasing from his account, though it wont matter for Im not going to support them in ANY way after all this.....

And also, this is MS, how is it their live system IS hackable in the first place, for none of this would matter, and everyone could not worry about having something attached to their account(s), for it starts with that. We dont share our accounts, nor do we give out our info, it all comes down to them KNOWING they get hacked, they been for many, many, many years, and do NOTHING to fix it. Its a service they provide I pay for, to have it half ass secured is BS, and they know they get hacked and peoples information taken. Do they send out periodic emails to their customers that they been just hacked to make sure all their customers change their passwords right away, NO! Almost all other places I have an account with tells me right away, what makes them so special? Could it be because they get hacked so often, they dont want to advertise how shitty their set up is and lose customers, or potential customers because of it?

Personally I'd rather have money in a savings account for emergencies versus 3 smart TVs as computer monitors but to each their own. Sorry about your trouble with Microsoft.

It is an extravagant system. Having a computer is reasonable when you're poor due to the high entertainment value/dollar spent, but there's a point of diminishing returns. Kind of the same way a pickup is a useful and justifiable expense, but a Unimog isn't. OP is living beyond his means, and I have little sympathy. Add to that, being on the proprietary software treadmill, well... You reap what you sow...

That is because under the FCBA the maximum they can charge you for fraudulent use is $50 and the vast majority of credit cards don't even charge you that. It's also much much easier for CC companies to clawback their money if it was even paid before reported in the first place.

My credit union has great fraud protection terms though and the one time my debit card info was stolen, after using it on Walmart.com no less, they caught it before I did and returned every last penny that went through before they caught it.

I'd go so far as to say that a PC and internet are almost necessities these days but as much of a computer nerd as I am I don't even have a setup like that and then he has a separate projector for movies but doesn't have a few hundred in a savings account to cover an emergency? That just doesn't make any sense to me. Hell he could only have 2 32" TVs as monitors and put the other $400ish into savings and he wouldn't be hurting nearly as bad right now. I don't care how you scrimped and saved, having something that extravagant and zero money for emergencies is horrible financial decision making. At the end of the day it is his money though and like I said, to each their own.

Again, it was all built up over years, and its a cheap projector, and cheapest 32" tv's I bought about 4 years ago, and as far as the pc, I bought my son the cheap windows vr, and he always gets my left overs so upgrading me upgrades him saving me money, I find everything as cheap as I can, and the cpu is onlty like $200 when I bought it, I didnt go crazy and buy a comp $600 intel geez peeps 😛 Yall see what I got and think I just went willy nilly and bought it all at one time, its more like 5-6 years to get all that aside the mobo and stuff I bought that this year with taxes and upgraded my son to my old 8370 again geez people 😛 😛 😛

You can get projectors for real cheap (there's 720p LED ones for $300 brand new, and you can get them cheaper than that; 1080p ones are cheap too, and some models have cheap bulbs). SmartTVs, I mean, there's been deals for 49" 4K ones for near $200. 1080p ones have been like $100 multiple times. You can also often dump that stuff for near the price you got them on Craigslist if you were actually in that much of a bind.

Because its not their system being hacked. Compromises like what happened to you are almost always going to happen on the client side (someone got access to the account by getting the login info somehow). The people hacking like you're talking about, will scrounge the data and then sell it off to other people. There's nothing to gain by accessing someone's account and buying shit for them and not taking over the account. Trust me, Microsoft would not try and pull that type of scam as credit companies could bend them over, costing them far more than they'd gain.

I hate to say it, but you really should be skeptical that your son wasn't involved in some manner. Yes he wouldn't screw you over, but he might not have known that was going to happen. Could be someone claimed they'd get him a bunch of stuff free if they gave them his account details (acting like they were going to buy it or "hack it" to get it for him, only they were just going to use the payment details and that you'd chargeback/claim fraud and get your money back). He might have even gotten addicted to this stuff and is ashamed to admit it, so he'll claim he didn't know anything and that it was a hack because well duh, he doesn't want to fess up to having done something like that. And it might be that, after the first time it happened, he saw an opportunity where he thought he could buy the stuff and then you'd claim it as fraud again and get all your money back. Or maybe he was just ignorant and someone phished his account ("hey click this link to see my awesome noscope megadeath streak" where it scraped his Xbox login info without him realizing YouTube doesn't need his Xbox credentials) and then trolled him.

That or you need to wipe your computers and do fresh installs because your stuff is compromised some other way.

That really doesn't answer the question as to why you didn't put at least some of your tax refund money into an emergency savings account. I have some sympathy for your situation, but you are not an entirely innocent victim of the absolutely unforeseen here. The next time you come into some chunk of money, by any means, learn from this and put some away. Every single adult head of household, no matter their socio-economic status, has to do some version of this. You can, too, even with the relatively meager resources at your disposal.

Exactly. People hear about people on disability buying 4K TVs, and they go "OMGWTFBBQ!!! Fraud!!!!", when they really haven't even been to a Walmart TV section in over a year (or ever). 4K TVs are STANDARD now, and CHEAP. Or do you look at everyone that owns a microwave oven as a "disability scammer"? No?

I own several 40" 4K UHD screens, for my desktop PCs, and they are some of the absolute best investments that I've made in PC components and accessories in, well, possibly forever, except for possibly my first 4X DVD burner. And they only cost a couple hundred bucks a pop, on Black Friday week on Newegg.

I'm not a developer, and I've played more maps made by users than I have from pros. They're meant to be user made. A "developer" isn't some god dropped on earth to bestow gifts on "stupid users". Maybe I missed it OP, but did the money that came from your PayPal account come from your bank card? If so, you need to take this up with your bank, not with Paypal. Paypal is just the middleman here.
