Sorry for my grammar, but bare with me :p

A week prior to the end of march my sons xbox account was hacked, for $168 bucks using my wifes Paypal prepaid card. She called microsoft and they gave her the money back. We changed all my sons passwords, for xbox, and his gmail. I stuck my card on it so he could buy a game, if he asked first, and then at the end of the month, when that night while we slept, my SSD hit my prepaid card, they hacked him AGAIN, but this time they stole $669.42 from his account. I found this out when I woke up, and I called Microsoft RIGHT AWAY, and they guy asked me a bunch of questions, asked if my son did it, and of course no he didnt, for he understands out situation, and that money was my mortgage money, so NO he NEVER would of spent that kind of cash to screw us over. We live check to check between what my wife brings in, and me and my 2 kids, for they get ssd from me as well. The games were bought some for some reason were on his warframe account (the games they bought with my wifes card, and mine), and 6 others were gifted to some other person we dont know. Needless to say, this time, I was told I HAD to contact Paypay (the debit card) people, and dispute it. I did.

Paypal, in order to get a "provisional credit" I had to send in all kinds of stuff showing I wasnt at fault, so as I can get some of the money they stole. I did, and 2 weeks later was refunded $669.42. I thought all was great :D

Then the end may, I bought something for the Mennonites in my town, for they cant do it for part of their religion they can do some things, they cant go online, nor see stuff other then pictures on their phones, but I am known in town as the go to guy for things they cant get, and I charge them just 1` white monster for doing it for them, for I see no need to rape anyone for just sitting here finding shit, them, or anyone else for that matter, it keeps me busy doing something other then a lump on a log. But he went to put the money on my card, did so, went to order, and my card was declined so I check it. PAYPAL TOOK THE MONEY BACK!! They said that microsoft came back and said I DID make the charges, and thats the end, The final outcome is it, nothing more you can do!!! WTMF! I not only talked to Paypal prepaid credit card, BUT Paypal themselves, with the same answer, and funny thing is Paypal themselves said that they have ZERO to do with "their" Paypal credit card, they are supposedly different from each other, and cant do anything between them, and its not "their" card I was told, so WHY THE **** is PAYPAL on the ****ing card, if you have nothing to do with it??????? :p At this point, Im crying my ass off like a little baby, thank you bipolar, youre soooo fun.

So I calm down and call Microsoft up to find out how the ****, did they determine I was at fault when we didnt do it, my son didnt do it, and yet this shit was gifted to some other guy, which I did give him his xbox user name. HERE IS THE KICKER! I am told that because a week before when my son was hacked they gave the money back to my wife as a "courtesy credit", and because it happened again their "SYSTEM" wont be able to do it again, for its a one time deal per account, so if you get hacked once, your ****ed from now on!!! Im Like WTF, they stole money, because your ****ing system is hackable to allow ****ers to do it, and now I get taken, and YOU ****ING TAKE ME TOO for $669.42 because you "SYSTEM" wont allow it, and you get a one time shot per account.

Im disabled mentally, and physically. I have bipolar, along with some others, and this whole matter has had me ****ed up for months, being taken, having to get all they needed so I "might" get some money back, was late on all my bills, I when I finally was able to pay when I got my "credit" back, then at the end of the month, have it all taken back, told I was at fault when I know 100% I, or my son, wouldnt spend $670 on games, and even if I did so, wtf would I gift that much money, for a stupid ass warframe game, and now have to find money again, I cant seem to find!! With my last calls to them all yesterday, Im crying my ass off on the phone, and when I heard MS told me they couldnt and why, I was actually crying and laughing at the same time, something I have never done :(

We have made our mortgage and other bills, BUT had only $140 left over to feed my family of 5 for the month and kids get nothing though the rest of the month, nor allowance. Im almost out of food I told MS because of this, and them, and the ****er who did this to us I am screwed beyond belief. I have nothing left to sell really, just put up my sons camera (https://www.facebook.com/groups/Tre...77579295612036/?sale_post_id=1677579295612036) for sale to make $65 I hope, if anyone is in the market for a water and shock proof camera Ill ship it, and Im selling a vintage Kyosho rc truck, and a insignia portable bluetooth,cd,amfm stereo on facebook as well, about to put the camera up in the fsft section, but I am soooooooooooooooooo pissed off to the tilt with MS, and at this point will refuse to buy a single thing more from them. I had plans at some point to get my son a xbox one x, but **** THAT, if its a one time hack, get your money back, second time, we keep it all, you dont get what they bought, **** you!

So I made this not just to rant, but my oldest boy had his account hacked while back, my youngest boy had it twice, and now this and Im holding a $669.42 empty back, and we have to suffer though the month because of the hacker and MS, so WATCH OUT!! If you get hacked, they only give your money back to you one time, after that, your ****ed just like me! Im not asking for anything, Im just pre-warning you of what could happen, and in hopes that MS or Paypal will see this and how STUPID their "system" is, because if their system for xbox live wasnt hackable in the first place this never would of happened AT ALL! And to come back and say if you get hacked once, will gift the money back, but anything after that you are ****ed, and me for $669.42, that is soooo bull shit, MAKE YOUR SYSTEM NOT HACKABLE, AND IF SOMEONE GETS TAKEN BECAUSE OF YOU, GIVE THEM THEIR ****ING MONEY BACK, What the happy monkey **cks MS!!!!!

So Microsoft you can lick and suck by big giant, Klingon buds, hairy ass white balls!!!!! I have never been so upset in my life over this, and what I just wrote isnt enough to say how much I despise you, and the hacker for BOTH ****ING ME OVER, and paypal too.

Here is when you give then take away, you guys ar such........I have no more words atm....

Sorry if I came across as a smartass, but this why I use a prepaid debit card for online purchases and have have my SSD checks deposited in a Credit Union account. Or you could use a Credit Card and make sure you pay it off every month.

Good policy. And don't use a card larger than you can afford to lose.

I buy them one card at a time. Once it's depleted, I get a new number. I like vanilla. Pay once, and that's it.

Well it was easier for me to have it on the card for one, its all gone pretty much once it hits for that day I have to pay all my bills, and whats left on it is food and allowance money, so after I buy food, there isnt anything on the card, and for 2 going with a prepaid card I get paid 3-4 days sooner then I would if it went to a bank. But Im going to a bank next month, Ill wait the extrad days so as not to have this happen ever again!

:p :D :(

While I do have a Credit Union debit card, I only use it at ATMs and buying major items. I used it a few times at Newegg but I never save the billing details there.

This is why STEAM has me so concerned. I hear about "Steam hacks" all the time, and when I finally broke down and bought a game or two on Steam, I used my Paypal.

Well, good old Steam, they don't authorize just THAT purchase, as you would expect, they ENABLE some sort of "one-click pre-authorized ordering" for your steam account.

I had to manually login to my Paypal acct., and disable the authorization.

It's the companies that benefit from, and turn a blind eye, to this sort of thing.

You have a house, that's cool. I live in a condo so it's not an apartment but it's not a single detached house.

The worst part is, these ripoff big corporations... those items, they were all just virtual, right? PC game stuff. Nothing physical like a couch or something. Wouldn't have cost these corporations a dime to refund your money.

It would be advisable to secure the account outside of just the email / microsoft account like it sounds you have done to prevent future purchases without using a secure method such as mobile authenticator.

Also for the love of god stop auto linking your paypal to it so it can be charged whenever the person wants.

If this keeps happening on your end it sounds like your computer is not secure and just changing your password wont do anything if you have a keylogger or such on it.

OP, that sucks, but if they don't implement some limit, they'll have rat bastards abusing the hell out of it after regretting spending money on digital horseshit for a game. Although I think its bullshit that they'd let that amount of money be spent without any fucking checks, especially after you'd had the account compromised recently.

I really think they should not allow people under 18 to even have digital purchase options that are not fully vetted by the parents. They should absolutely be putting hard limits on what can be spent too (on all accounts), and require you to have to confirm before exceeding it. They could give an option for upping the limit but should still have some hard limit that you have to do special confirmation to exceed (seriously $500 on digital goods in a month should be good, and $500 in a day or even a week should automatically trigger them into putting a hold on the account until they get more confirmation that it was valid purchases).

I also think its straight up bullshit that they're pushing microtransactions and loot boxes in games now. They absolutely know that they have a high likelihood of it becoming a problem (especially for younger people, real money loot boxes should 100% not be allowed for anyone under 18), and don't give a fuck.

Yeah, and I hope governments start slapping these companies with heavy regulations if they keep pushing for it. They should have to meet stricter than casino gambling stuff, since their environment is less controlled and definitely skews for a younger market. But with the ruling on fantasy sports betting, I have a hunch this stuff is not going to be addressed until after it becomes a rampant problem. I can almost guarantee that kids using exploits to game their systems will get slapped hard with fines and potential jail time (probably get hit with many of the ridiculous "hacking" charges, where they can threaten huge fines and jail time to get them to plead to less). But the companies can probably manipulate the shit any which way they want (and as long as they put a disclaimer up saying odds are constantly adjusted or some other nonsense, they'll get away with it too).

Amazon was openly looking to start embedding gambling shit into Twitch, which is fucking insane that they weren't immediately met with "WTF are you doing?" reaction. I think people tipping on there is fairly insane already (and they've added multiple ways you can too).

The gaming industry is going to find themselves in another fiasco if they keep this shit up.

You're both wrong.

Only use Credit. ONLY.

When it's someone else's money and not YOUR prepaid (or not pre-paid but YOUR bank account) they tend to give a shit.
