I'd rather have a controller so I can just sit back, chill on the couch and play some FPS.

Not run around my living room like an idiot.

Its very considerate for Microsoft to use their Xbox 360 marketing budget to advertise the next generation or two of the Wii. Oh the dreamers they are...

It works out ok in Punch Out also. Standing on the Wii Board using the nunchucks will have you moving all around to perform the most basic strategies. It does need weights though, the nunchuck is way too light for the purpose. The board can tell if you ducked, whether you are leaning to a side, etc. The nunchuk is really just used to detect your left hand punch and also to determine whether you are doing a low or high punch since it can't detect that naturally very well.

Of all the things I saw in the video, this is actually one of the easiest to program. My company does something similar, but for industrial applications.

Taking a snapshot (from multiple cameras at once, so you can use depth perception to see what the "up front" surface is)

Then clipping it, and inserting it into a texture for use with DirectX/Open GL game, is trivial.

Chuck Norris has not yet stopped doing push ups.

For a moment I thought that I wasn't going to get the answer on this thread.

They already have this up and running and had a live demo at E3. Look up Project Natal for details.

Unfortunately it was all smoke and mirrors.

Yep it was just a demo and probably at least a year from release. I hate all this motion controll crap. It's gimmicky and hell, people will put motion controls onto anything to try to make it look cooler. Look at all the crappy Wii games with horrible motion controls. I'll take a standard controller over this any day.

I can't wait for this. I know everyone on AT is too cool for it, but us normal people will have a good time with it.

I just want the sports.

That's it.

But I'm not sure I could get used to running in place to move up and down the court.

Pay no attention to haters. Besides, I don't think every game lends itself to motion sensing input. There will probably always be joysticks.

some of that looks interesting, but no way would i want to play a racing game with nothing to hold onto...no wheel, no pedals, no gearshift? how the fuck does that even feel right?
