And?

I mean shit, has anyone read the TOS?

Go read Google's TOS, they can do whatever they want with your data.

Indeed, they are not lying when they say your private stuff is their priority.

It is shameful. You know I would share my opinion on snowden but unless it is anything but calling him an awful traitor I could end up in some secondary processing database.

Excellent. Obey your masters, spout the official line, self sensor against inappropriate thoughts and actions, approve of everything your masters do even if it is completely contradictory and hypocritical, never mind illegal.

You sir are a model citizen. Approved.

Thanks--actually it was half. I do think all of this wild unconstitutional invasion of privacy will have an inevitable chilling effect on discourse.

Is there really any practical choice? Don't comply and you're under investigation by the NSA. The IRS will come down on your company and those in charge. OSHA and/or the Labor Department will show up. Sooner or later either you will comply, or you will be destroyed. Big Brother is the Borg. (Actually funny that I know that meme since I've never seen a single episode with the Borg.)

So you are saying that if I use the internet I am giving up my privacy?

When you freely give information to a private corporation, yes.
Read the TOS for their products.
They can do whatever they want with your information.

don't defend big brother

Huh? Its an issue of idiots giving these companies private information with the expectation of privacy when there is none. Mainly because people are too fucking lazy to read through the TOS.

There's a very good song by Rick Wakeman(ex-Yes) with Chaka Khan on vocals:

I had doubts as to where we're going
But you gotta hand it to the guys upstairs
I've been put on a whole new programme
Don't have to handle my own affairs
Everything I want is on my print-out
I don't need anything any more
I'm not confused by useless knowledge
I don't even know if it's 1984 for sure

Rules rule ok ask no questions
Welcome to the age of consent
Fasten seat belts drive with caution
Don't take shots at the president
Robot man is a wonderful creation
Automatically obeys the law
Laws of nature, man and physics
I don't even know if it's 1984 for sure
1984?

The only thing you have to know
Big brother is watching you
You love him

Robot man is a wonderful creation
Automatically obeys the law

You love him, you love him, you love him

I don't even know if it's 1984 for sure

The only thing you have to know
Big brother is watching you
You love him

What I need is a real emotion
A little love and a lot of despair
Robot man has a problem breathing
Robot man don't know how to care
Payed my dues but the dudes don't listen
I'd cry out but who the hell for?
I'd love to know what is means to suffer
I don't even know if it's 1984 for sure
1984?

You already did, just by reading this tread and replying.
You already in some secondary processing database - who knows what your thoughts may be now...

"Clean person"- a man-robot, who did not clicked on this tread and didn't not participated, no matter, what his/hers views are - may be infected with unwanted thoughts already......

It just makes me wonder how long it will be before regular people have to start going to an underground internet just to discuss things that we discuss now on these forums that pose no threat to anyone.

There is no real reason for that TOS and that policy. It has been revealed for what it is - Big Brother at work. Microsoft, Apple (after Steve Job's death), Google etc are all basically extensions of the United Stasi of America.

Justice William O. Douglas:

"Big Brother in the form of an increasingly powerful government and an increasingly powerful private sector will pile the records high with reasons why privacy should give way to national security, to law and order, to efficiency of operation, to scientific advancement and the like".

Douglas died in 1980.

Looks like it's time to actually put that minor familiarity with Linux from that old class to use and switch over the old non-gaming machine to a new OS.

Linux has NSA code embedded in it. Android, too.

Perhaps Apple might have a new selling feature ... "NSA-free!" that is, unless it simply hasn't been announced they've taken it up the ass, too.
