Michelle Obama thinks being America’s First Lady is ‘hell’

But you know, it's not easy when your husband runs for president. I mean, it's not easy for me. I'm sure it's not easy for her. There's a lot of scrutiny on families that isn't always wanted.
Laura Bush

Yeah it is hell, and so is being president.

Being president yes... First lady? Well you get all the perks of the president but none of the stresses. Her only stress comes from the taxpayers bitching about her royal vacations like the one in Spain... which she ignores which means that is not stressful to her.

I don't know! You tell us Michelle.. why you so mad?!

Reminds me of the wife of a CEO overheard at a cocktail party saying just how tough it was to get by on $2mm per year. <---True story.

Poor Michelle....poor, poor Michelle.

Heaven forbid a politician (or his wife) actually be truthful.

Stating your opinions and keeping your mouth shut when appropriate are two different things. She has enjoyed numerous tax payer funded jaunts, dines regularly on wagyu beef, parties at the white house... while many of the people voted for her who probably think a mcdonalds value meal is a treat. And she says it is hell. I though the obamas were for the common man?

Are you calling Carla Bruni, the wife of the President of France, a liar?

No, I'm calling a headline on Drudge a poor indicator of newsworthiness.

I don't know enough about Bruni to comment on her reliability either way. But for someone who's so willing to be critical of your own country's first lady (as anyone should be free to be, I'll add), you sure are indignant on France's behalf. 😛

I am critical of hubris wherever I may find it.

I find the Obamas define hubris.

I also see that Drudge, love him or hate him, rocks DC and most every other corridor of power as well.

His site is the homepage for most everyone who wants to know what stories are about to gain the attention of the nation and the world. He does the work so you don't have to.

You minimize his importance in the daily news cycle at your own peril.

She did keep it shut when appropriate - she confided in someone in a similar position who then decided to publish it in a book. Even if she didn't, so what? Does it make it any less true? Do Americans want truth from their leaders or do you want whatever makes you feel good?

To some, all the fancy free meals in the world aren't worth it if the trade off is being criticized for every word and step you take. And why would shrugging off the free "perks" be a valid area for criticism? Your country hasn't elected anyone who wasn't already quite affluent once in your 200+ year history. She could easily afford the jetset lifestyle years ago.
