Micheal Steele wins as GOP chairman

 Gotta love the AP editorializing in it's "news". "the most moderate candidate in the field"...according to who's definition? A liberals? Puhleeze.

Anyway, I support Steele as GOP head and hope he does help remake the GOP into a better party but if that means becoming less Conservative - he will find his tenure short lived... The GOP masses are looking for strong Conservative leadership - not spineless BS.

so you can only have a spine if you are a conservative republican, and moderate republicans don't have spines?

"Most moderate" means not as far right, so it doesn't really matter whose definition you use just so long as it is generally agreed upon he is not as far right as the other candidates. Getting some kind of liberul biazOMGWTF out of that makes you look stupid, if you edit it out I will delete this post and you can save face

I don't think the problem is the republicans being conservative and if you think that we liberals think that you are wrong. The problem is the neocon anti-science religious nut jobs. If you can purge that crap from your party hell I might vote with you depending on the candidate.

Gotta love the cad assertion that "The GOP masses are looking for strong Conservative leadership - not spineless BS."

In other words, the 25% lunatic fringe of the GOP is looking for more wackier delusional leadership, and the more rational 75% of the GOP does not matter.

There, fixed for you Cad.

*crosses fingers* Hopefully the GOP does collapse, and after a decade of domination the DEM's collapse as well.

Well you decide, here is what Wiki says.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_S._Steele

A fellow who ran at the urging of Cheney, was competitive in a blue State like Maryland. Wants a big tent Republican party.

Clearly not a Limbaugh type of guy, but Limbaugh type guys ain't exactly been winning lately, even in GOP primaries.

Michael Steele:

Q: Should people have access to buy assault weapons or any gun that they want?

Michael Steele: Well, I mean you draw the line. I mean, what do you need an assault weapon for? I mean, if going hunting, I think that?s a little overkill or whatever, but the reality of it is, I think it?s important for a society, a community to draw the lines as we?ve drawn in a number of other constitutional areas, but I don?t think that that means that you go to a total ban for those who want to use guns for skeet shooting and hobbying and hunting and things like that.

Ok, that's fail. No way will he last long. He just turned off a good amount of the base.

I'm not sure if you've noticed, but appealing to the GOP base is what the Republicans have been trying for the last two elections and the results were catastrophic.

lol, you libs are hilarious. Just because one panders to the base doesn't mean the base comes out or will vote for you. You see, we want to see RESULTS and when you consistently pander and then go to Washington and get all spineless and become ineffective - you get booted.
Conservatism works and wins - this "moderate" BS you libs are pushing as a fix for the GOP is nothing but political hackery and wishful thinking. The move should not be left as the GOP has already gone too far left (hello neocons? ). It needs to get back to some real Conservatism. Hopefully Steele can help move the GOP to a more consistent Conservative position on the things that matter like Fed budgeting.

U.S. Senate candidate Michael S. Steele got an endorsement last week from a guy named Mfume . It came at a rally of Democrats for Steele in Baltimore, where Steele supporters waved signs and grabbed bumper stickers that said "Steele Democrat."

No Democrats who are elected officials in Maryland showed up, and afterward they said the entire event was meant to confuse voters.

The Mfume endorsement? It came not from the former Democratic candidate for the seat Kweisi Mfume but from his son Michael . And those signs? Well, Steele is no Democrat.

'Conservatism never fails, it is only failed'!

By all means man, keep on going further to the right. Keep right on going! Ahahahahaha.

"going further"? Buahahaha... The reality is the GOP has been moving left lately... it's no wonder they are losing.

I actually know Blackwell's daughter, she lived across the hall from me at Oxford.

-Unchecked pres/VP powers
-PNAC
-Invasion of Iraq

These are what you call "moving to the left"? Really?

Great! The GOP has more than a token black guy now! It truly is a new era in American politics.

Funny he was called a token black guy when he was running his last campaign...

 Are you really that stupid? Picking a couple things(that are arguably neocon) that are pretty much hyperbole doesn't mean much. Plus, the D's voted for the use of force. So your 1 almost valid point is pretty much mute as both parties voted for it.

Don't mind DealMonkey, he just didn't want to shout "OREO" here so he chose a different way to post... 😉

PNAC and the aggressive use of military force are "arguably" neocon? 😕

It's quite simple - look at how the last 6 years have gone. Show me how the GOP has gone more "right" or Conservative.
