Michael Phelps: I eat 12,000 calories a day

I ate 6k a day for months on end in Iraq. I could easily see needing to eat more if I was swimming for hours. I'm just a touch bigger then phelps in size.

I can sympathize. Though not quite at that level, I rowed very seriously for 4 years when I was in my early 20s. I was eating 8000 calories or so a day just to not lose too much weight.

Bad eating habits resulted, unfortunately, hehe.

I was going to write a meaningful reply to this post, but it's so full of stupidity and fail that I can't justify wasting any time on it.

$10 says he outlives you and is 10,000x more successful in life.

Well my medal count in Battlefield 2 currently trumps his at the Olympics,so I highly doubt that.

And no,he wont live longer than me.Stars that burn twice as bright burn twice as fast.Try running your car at 10,000 rpms with bad fuel and see how long it lasts.Lets revisit Mr. Phelps at 55, if he is still alive.

Move along, troll. You obviously don't understand biology.

Actually, there are peer-reviewed studies demonstrating that a lower-calorie diet does contribute to a longer lifespan. I don't recall the specifics, but IIRC it had to do with free radicals related to the digestive process. I can dig up the references if anyone cares.

Having said that, I remember that Phelps said during an interview that he will almost certainly retire after the 2012 olympics. Obviously if he is no longer training for the olympics, then there is no reason for him to be eating that much. So if he retires at 30, then that's still the majority of his life that he will spend eating normally, or at least not as extreme as he is now.

The fact that he is at the Olympics and you are playing Battlefield 2 means he is already ahead of you.
