Not everyone agrees that 'vast fortunes' affecting the welfare of society are 'off limits' to the society exercising some control for its own benefit for the people.
The criticism of rules that create perverse incentives for the use of large amounts of wealth that harms society is appropriate for a society - a word some seem not to know.
Your argument is that large amounts of wealth harm society, and you intend to solve this.
The linchpin is that you target only a small number of easy prey. You ignore the heart of the problem, that the basis for your 'right' is antithetical to the very soul of the United States. It is a slippery slope where you've granted yourself the right to do harm unto others, in the name of government.
You draw a line, yes? A certain amount of wealth. Today it's 200k? Tomorrow 150k. Ideas paid for by others come cheap, and numerous. There is not enough wealth in the nation to do as desired, and so your needs, your 'rights' demand broadening your scope. Of abusing the rights of more than a few. You laid the foundation for this abuse of power, so then why not abuse it?
You will.
The entire purpose of this country, from Declaration to Constitution was to prevent this. To abstain government's hand in abusive power. Your entire purpose is to stain government's hand with the wealth of others. At a local level maybe, but to bind 310 million people to this tyrannical scheme of wealth redistribution, we can not let this stand.
You must be opposed, and so you shall. If you ever wish to see the merits of your ideals, do so without us. Do this at a more local level than the Federal Government. To include us in your scheme is to ensure reprisal. It will be stalled, watered down, stagnanted. Forced into failure. You'll achieve less than you desire and for a greater price. You will have battle added to the costs. Think Health Care.
Think again before you intend to engage a free people in the merits of removing their liberties.
This is a message to all Liberals and Progressives.
