Michael Cohen will testify to House Oversight Feb 7 about his work for Trump

Even if Cohen's testimony reveals Trump's criminal acts, it won't change anything. Trump's base is pretty violent and if he is removed from office, it will get ugly.

I don't think Americans want that.

Let him get defeated in 2020 soundly, and then the GOP rebuilds.

LOL Gotta love when Trump Fluffers use the threat of violence as a scare tactic. As if that really makes your party look good. And dont give me this" im an independent' crap. We all know what you are.

Which is why I questioned whether open testimony was really good for the country. I do think Republicans are interested in those questions, but not publicly so. They are waiting until it seems right to purge Trump, and when the time comes they will do so in the way that they think is best for them. But I truly doubt there are any true believers out there in Congress. Personal profit might drive actions which resemble it, though.

It is for the good of the country no matter what Republicans say or do. It could be argued that leaving Nixon or Agnew alone was also for the good of the nation and indeed that is why Ford pardoned Nixon. Nothing since that pardon has shown it was a good idea. Those who are guilty but politically privileged should be the last to get off for crimes.

I’m actually agreeing with Meadows now...if Cohen is still lying on financial disclosure forms submitted ahead of today and then provides testimony to the opposite, he can’t be trusted. He is under oath and needs to clear up this discrepancy.

Yea, some of those Trump voters are middle class people. Majority of them, middle class. Are you saying that some of those police officers, iron workers, firefighters, teachers are "terrorists" or the GOP powerbrokers?

He's saying that your argument that we should allow a known criminal to wield unspeakable power because his followers may become violent if we attempt to stop him is a nonstarter.

You don't let people threaten violence to enable criminal activity.

I’m loving all the Trump fluffers today stating they have or are:
Voted for Obama, twice!
I’m not a Republican I’m an Independent, I just talk like I’m a Republican for fun
I didn’t vote for Trump
I don’t like Trump but....

Meadows was lying about the content of the forms.

Meadows should apologize to Cohen for his mischaracterization. He won't, but he should.

You honestly can't trust a single word that comes out of Republicans' mouths on this topic without verifying it yourself. Their entire goal today is to throw enough shit up in the air that the accusations against Trump appear less damning. They are not trying to inform the public, they are attempting the opposite.

We will find out. I am unsure but suspect a Trump supporter watching this will come away from it having the idea that the conspiracy against them has been reaffirmed.

No one expects to convince a Trump supporter of anything else. These people are fundamentally broken and will never be convinced that they are, indeed, the actual problem.

The issue is convincing the independent, swayable humans that actually matter when it comes to federal elections. Trump's ~30million or so actual supporters are lost in their heads, but completely meaningless if they are the only people that will vote for the sentient rectum.

Do you think that Trump-supporting middle class coastguard lieutenant is a terrorist?

What about all of the Nazis marching in Charlottseville? Terrorists, or just misunderstood?

katie hill just dunked on him. camera caught him winking at rep. hill when she did it.

I didn't actually think it possible but the GOP is turning Cohen into a likable character. That is the level of their incompetence.

They are also reminding themselves, every other minute, that this Cohen guy was in charge of the RNC finance committee for at least half a year, right? They know his stink is on them, or is it the other way around? Publicly distancing themselves from and discrediting the arbiter of their worst deeds is certainly in their personal best interests.

Oh God Meadows is up again - "Guys, we have proven the President's long-term friend and attorney is a criminal and a snake. Therefore, Trump is innocent of all wrongdoing!"

"Hey! Remember when we softballed a bunch of questions at you and you lied to us? What's up with that?"

The GOP is doing a great job of selling this book and movie Cohen's supposedly making.

Gosar pretty much did the same thing, lie that is, about leniency for testimony. Not anywhere near correct. Unless Cohen brings things to light which pan out for prosecutors during this hearing there is no applicability to potential reduced sentencing. Oaths for truth during hearings should be binding on witnesses and their questioners.

I've read the rules that are responsible for the form. These are what Congress wants and unlike Trump's kin, there is no legal obligation to comply. The "kids" were able to amend ad infinitum and avoid what are criminal penalties. This is just a distraction on the part of Meadows and the Trumpblicans in general. I never thought I'd be looking at Cohen as the source of truth in all this, but compared to these treacherous Republicans and Trump he's a shining positive example. This beats fiction any day.
