How would you know if it's true or not if it cannot be verified? Talking in a general sense here.

If some one went around spreading horrid things about you and things that you didn't do them and you suffered a reputation loss, lost your job or many other things happened because of this with no recourse for you.

Is that OK?

But those things would be false. If Cohen lies in his book, that would be wrong. If he doesn't, again, why would that be wrong?

@pcgeek11 does not understand this. He has already taken the position that Cohen will be lying, and that is that. He has done this to insulate his ego because he knows what Cohen says will be very bad for Trump, and conservatives, and anyone else duped by Trump, and anyone desperate to maintain the illusion that Hillary would have been as bad or worse than Trump.

That's exactly what you're saying. You're trying to discredit everything Cohen said because he lied also. Except, the prosecutors picked thru all his statements.

Provide the evidence, or if you can't ...then what he claimed in trial stands
What evidence of what? What are you even talking about? Cohen lied to Congress repeatedly and went to jail for it. I wouldn't trust anything he says or what's in his book.

...and you want evidence that Cohen lied? Lol?

what they said plus he was caught trying to lie on Trumps behalf. Trump Tower Moscow was a real thing that Trump also lied repeatedly about point blank into your faces.
Did Trump lie to Congress about it under oath, or in a deposition or something? If he perjured himself then prosecute him for perjury.

If you're shocked that a politician lied, I have news for you.

You are implying a false equivalence. That all lies told by politicians are equal unless they are under oath.

What Cohen claimed before the court is backed up by large amounts of documentary evidence as already shown to you so he's got Trump on at least one felony.

Since he had voluminous evidence to back up one of his claims, it seems reasonable that he might have more evidence to back up his other claims. This is basic logic.

How many times have Trump been under oath? How many times have he promised to testify under oath?
Shocked? Hell no. Indifferent? Fuck no. That would be akin to giving up. You a quitter?

Not at all saying you are suggesting it, I just wanted to take this opportunity to say that asking a Trump sympathizer to be logical when their whole premise of supporting Trump is based on raw emotions stoked by a mountain of lies as told by a verified pathological liar and con artist is futile.

Folks putting their faith in a guy like Trump defies every single thing that is logical in the world so there must be something a whole lot more compelling to do such an illogical thing, what it is I'm too logical to figure it out.

He strikes me as the more meta Trump supporter. Not a supporter outright but more of an 'anti-anti Trump' person. This lets him defend Trump and this historical disaster of a presidency without needing to take ownership of Trump's more odious qualities by pretending that Trump's critics are just being unreasonable. Same end result, just different methods.

Lol...Donald Trump would NEVER do anything "unethical"...He shown over his entire life/career of having SO much integrity and honesty. Just so misunderstood. He has always played by the rules. Most of the claims Cohen made are well known accusations long posited by Trump’s inner circle, lawyers, acquaintances and writers close to him, alike. They are all liars!.

Trump would never:

Trump would never violate, or know about campaign finance laws transgressions, even though most of his lackeys are in jail for this very thing
Trump would never obstruct justice
Trump would never have prior knowledge of the Trump tower meetings
Trump, his kids and team would never communicate directly with Wikileaks about a hacked Dem. email drop
Trump would never have prior knowledge of pay off's to porn stars and playboy models
Trump would never cheat on his finances
Trump would never cheat his business partners
Trump would never lie about his net worth
Trump would never cheat on his taxes and be proud of it
Trump would never use threats to keep any of his records secret

NO!..Trump has no history of doing these things. So persecuted. Poor ol Donald Trump, he never gets a fair shake. So unfair!.

We'll see how Trump reacts closer to this book release. I expect a Twitterea storm of epic proportions. Let's see if he sicks a bunch of his newly crowned bagman/fixer lawyers to block the release of this somehow. Usually these things are useually a dead giveaway that whatever accusation that come forth are most likely true.

Trump and Hillary used to be pals. Do you think there's a chance Cohen will end up dying mysteriously, and all of a sudden Hillary is Trump's next VP? I mean according to the conservative websites she does all of the dirty work personally, and she's very good at it.

I think it's just a money grab by Cohen. It will contain just enough gossip to seem unseemly, and that's it. He's probably in danger himself of doing more time if he reveals to much.

Cohen is trying to get his book out ahead of the pack. I'm sure there will be hundreds of tell all books about Trump when he leaves the WH. He and other future authors may have a problem though since Trump speaks in code like a mob boss.

Thing is Cohen won't have to lie to toast Trump, he took extensive notes and recorded conversations. Paper trails exist for all the bogus info fed to banks for his loans and also for cheating on his taxes. Speaking of taxes, where are cheeto's returns?, ahh, still under audit.

I wonder if Trump's base will be asking for tax returns this time around?

If Biden wins and starts naming cabinet members I look forward to a sudden and renewed interest in transparency and conflicts of interest by Republicans.

Huh? Whuh? Classic. If you have evidence that Cohen's statements at his trial were false, present it.

Funny thread. I wonder how people feel about thousands of verifiable lies spread by the POTUS

I wonder how many extra people fact checking organizations had to hire to keep up. Maybe that's why unemployment was so low.

Trump grabbed 'em by the pussy & they swooned at the attention. They're just too proud to admit it.

The magnitude of "man" hours dedicated to fact checking the pathological liar in chief is tremendous 😬

But by the way that the law is written IF you can't prove they are false then you have no recourse from what was explained earlier. They could spread all the lies they want and you would be powerless to stop it unless you could prove them to be false. Like proving a negative.

To prove prima facie defamation, a plaintiff must show four things:
1) a false statement purporting to be fact;
2) publication or communication of that statement to a third person;
3) fault amounting to at least negligence; and
4) damages, or some harm caused to the person or entity who is the subject of the statement.

Speaking of rats, Bolton's book is due May 12th, wonder if that's why Drumpf is eager to get the shutdown over...don't want people home with time on their hands to read.

I'm "implying" that politicians lie and that it should be expected. Lying to a crowd isn't necessarily illegal. If it were, all politicians would be in jail :p If he lied under oath, if he actually broke the law, is what matters.
