105 tons? jesus i bet you could smell that in San Diego. my office is near 3 warehouses that grow for dispensaries and holy crap you know when its harvest time. the skunk smell is quite strong.

In an update to the story, as the drugs were being incinerated a flock of birds flew over the smoke stack and the Mexican authorities were heard to say that, "No tern was left un-stoned".
Boooooooo.

Also...
He said the drugs would be incinerated immediately after the weighing and counting is completed.
Well heck, that's what was going to happen to it all anyway.

Probably $200-250M in value to the cartel. But the Feds will price it according to the street selling prices and come up with a value double or triple that.

edit: Didn't see the article had an estimated street value of $340M in Mexico.

Speaking of the article, they say an average of 2000 tons were seized annually prior to 2009. To put that into perspective, using the street value estimated in the article of 340mm on ~100 tons. 2000 tons = 20*340mm = 6.8billion annually in street value of seizures alone. I can't even imagine how much money is made on the portion that actually sneak past the borders.

And unfortunately, most of that goes into the coffers of the drug lords and cartels. Meanwhile, the gov't is bleeding that same amount of cash trying to fight this war. I'm playing for the wrong team 🙁

105 tons is 94,080,000grams, street price of 340mil breaks down to 3.61/g

hundred dollars an ounce.

Yeah, I don't know anyone who brags about their dank mexican weed.

Mexican weed is "Regs" and "Schwag."

"Dank," is good weed that is grown inside the united states. Heller lives in South Florida which is a major producer of "Danks." Heller may be an idiot, but he smokes some of the best weed in the world, and none of it comes from mexico.

I think that was kinda his point.. lol

and lol @ Florida being a major producer. Never heard of floridian weed. Oregon and BC, sure. Florida.. no.

That is probably nothing to them...they probably produce that daily.

yeah, article said this is still lower than the pre-crackdown average busts. also, they've been focusing on meth, so while this is huge compared to recent years, it is still below average overall.

What, you think Disney World makes money from the tourists? :awe:

Wow. That's 276,679 miles of back to back floppy discs if you converted the 104 tons of weed to non-bulk street value, then used that money to buy floppy discs from tiger direct.

How many lumens of light output could you produce if you used the street value to buy light bulbs from Costco?
