Looks like getting Benson was the right move for the Mets :p

you mean, only giving up 7 runs in five innings??

god you gotta love those braves. ;)

Braves are threatening again :D

And the fans have shown what they think of this so-called plan. Have you seen the "crowds" at Shea? It is a dismal team.

Actually the 'actual' on field payroll is not high. A significant portion of the payroll is owed to Mo Vaughn, where insurance is paying 75% of his salary.

This plan is horrific. I hope Shea becomes a ghost town.

It's so fun watching the Mets collapse even further! These trades were ridiculous.

Mets fans only hope is for Wilpon to be so embarassed that he has to sell the team.

Benson was AWESOME in his Mets debut!!! He gave up a miniscule 7 earned runs to the Braves thus setting up the final nail in the coffin for the season. Glavine will seal it tomorrow. ugh... I'm sure once Benson gets a good look at the gold glove calibur defense of the Mets he'll reconsider signing with the Mets and sign with the Braves next season and win the Cy Young.

F'n Mets drive me nuts...and I am convinced they contributed greatly to my hairloss.

Can't wait to see Zambrano on Thursday

i'm a braves fan. as is probably obvious by now, i should rejoice in the mets misery, but it really does annoy me seeing stupid moves.

I hope Zambrano gives up 10 earned runs in the first inning when he pitches and then promptly tears up his shoulder, requring season ending surgery.

I agree with the 10 runs part..but not the injury. I hope he and the whole team gets booed mightly... what awful offense. CAN ANYONE HIT THE DAMN BALL ALREADY! WILL THEY STOP HITTING AT FIRST PITCHES!!! AARRGGHHHHH!!! IT'S OVER.

I hate the damn Braves... they always find a way to win the division then promptly fall flat on their face in the playoffs. Its the same crap every year.

Sports talk radio should be entertaining here in NYC ...I'll be listening to WFAN to hear all my fellow mets fans bury the organization.

You see, Mets management decided that winning the division year in and year out isn't for them. They'd rather be at the bottom year in and year out.

The Braves are lucky. They might have horrible ownership, but they have one of the best management groups in baseball. Just imagine what they would be like if they actually had a better ownership group!

Thank god they don't. Otherwise they wouldn't fall flat on their face every god damn postseason.

get your facts straight

the braves have won 12 straight division titles, they've gone on to play in the NLCS 10 times, 3 times losing to the eventual WS champions, with 5 WS appearances. so far the ratios are pretty good, it's only the 1 win in 5 WS chances that isn't great.

knock the braves for not winning the WS but claiming the fall flat on their faces in the playoffs is ignorant.

btw, as i live in NJ myself i listen to WFAN all the time. Mike and the Mad Dog still hasn't done the braves right after they COMPLETELY wrote off the braves early in the season.

let's sock it to the mets one more time.

not only do you lose 2 or 3 valued prospects you get swept by the braves.

I NEVER knocked the Braves for being a bad team. The team that I root for is bad and I totally admit that. I have every right to say they fall flat on their face in the playoffs/world series because that is what they do. They play great during the season and then promptly look like garbage in the playoffs.

What happened last year versus the Cubs?? They looked BAD against them and they were a 100+ game winner. How did they look in the world series against the Yanks?? They looked BAD against them. Its like they are a different team in the playoffs/world series.

I never said they stunk... I think they are a good team that overachieves. Nothing wrong with that.

As for Mike and the Maddog..I can't stand them. They annoy me to no end. Once again I'm sure the Braves will win the division and then promptly get stomped by a team like the Cardinals.

Newsday's Ken Davidoff reports that the Mets could have gotten Soriano and Teixeira from the Rangers for Reyes and Kazmir during spring training.

It's a good thing they turned down that trade!
Mark has 25 HRs in 85 games and is only 24.
NYers already know what Sori can do.

At least the Mets won't finish in last place this year: they'll be in fourth!
