Well I'm on my 3rd listen of this album for the day and I'm still not bored with it. I think this weekend I'll pickup KEA and MOP.

Any suggestions on other good metal bands?

Just a few off the top of my head:
Iron Madien
MegaDeth
Pantera
Blind Guardian
Dark Moor
Hammerfall
Ice Earth (I really don't like them but what do I know)
Nevermore
InFlames
Stratavarious<sp?>
Spite (small band, have one album on Metal Blade records, Bastard Complex, only place I found it was half.com, but it's killer piece of work)
Black Sabbath
Judas Priest (gettin' old school I know)
War Machine (not the 80's band. These guys are young and from Canada. do a google for "war machine" and you should be able to find their site and d/l their songs).
Kittie (I hear you laughing, but I'm serious)

If you really like RtL and MoP (especially the more melodic aspects of the songs) you might want to check out power metal (like Nevermore or Blind Guardian) or even some prog rock (Dream Theater).

Lethal

Dude...
Queensreich
Led Zeppelin (not hard... but HARD as hell in their Souls)
ManOwar
Testament
SEPULTURA!!!!!!!

Kittie... I dunno man.... just a bunch of mall girlz that are fugly and picked upped intruments instead. They are hard, but not believeable. I like girlz who DON'T Rock. I like "nice" girlz I can make bad.... hehe

That's Stratovarius, and Queensryche(or Queensrÿche, but don't search for that on Amazon) :)

And to add a few to the list, wouldn't wanna waste a whole post nitpicking ;)
Mixed kind of metal, alot of them aren't quite like Metallica, but it's all good IMO.

Oh and Symphony X
Cathedral
AC/DC (just in case you haven't listened to them already :) )
Accept
WASP
Anthrax
Ratt
Helloween (Pretty much the fathers of power metal)
Rob Halford
Cacophony (kinda wierd music)
Spiral Architect (very wierd music)
Danzig
Annihilator
Dokken (A bit soft maybe...)
Motley Crue (or Mötley Crüe)
Amorphis
Skew Siskin (Kinda like Kittie, but far better IMO)
Axel Rudi Pell
Rhapsody
Freedom Call

There's lots o' good metal out there :)

RE Dream Theater: "Awake" and "Images and Words" are 2 incredible albums. They're 3rd album (something "infinity" has some good moments but overall isn't that good. Their last 2 albums have been, IMO, overly self-indulgent<sp?> are something akin to a technical demonstration not good music. But, like I said before, "Images and Words" and "Awake" are awesome albums IMO.

Yep, a technical demonstration is about it. They have some talent on their instruments but their music completely sucks. The last song I heard from them was on a compilation CD people at work put together, it was called "Metropolis" and while technically I can say they can play, in reality it is horrible utter crap. It's just incredibly corny and ridiculous. I was playing it the car and as the song went on my girlfriend even kept saying "You have got to be kidding me!" followed by her busting out laughing.

Metal should be raw and heavy like Metallica, Slayer, Black Sabbath, Pantera, etc. Not this cornball stuff that Dream Theater puts out. If you like it that's cool, I find it just as ridiculous as the old big hair metal like Cindarella

Was it Metropolis part 1 (a single song from Images and Words) or was it from "Metropils part 2: scenes from a memory" which is there 2nd to last album and I can't even let the album play thru in the background w/o turning it off. You also have to keep in mind that DT isn't metal, it's prog rock. Holding DT to metal "standards" isn't fair 'cause they aren't metal.

BTW if you like raw you really need to see if you can find Spite's Bastard Complex. That's about the most raw and stripped down music I've heard and it is awesome. If you can't find any samples on line and you don't want to drop $$$ on the CD w/o hearing any first PM me and I'll rip & host a couple mp3s for you.

Metallica is one of the few bands from the 80's early 90's that will become a classic.
Ride the lightning is awesome. I prefer their live recordings because they play faster.

Sepultura is from Brazil (I recommend Roots bloody roots, Slave AD, Refuse/Resist, and attitude those were huge singles). . Pantera is pure redneck :D I recommend I'm broken, 5 minutes alone, This Love (kinda like unforgiven), and Cemetery gates!! <- huge singles from them.

I wonder if heavy metal is going to start gaining popularity now that "being 80's" is cool again.
No Rap/Metal crap please!!!

BTW, I think Metallica was ok in Load (I liked Until it sleeps). They uber sold out when they teamed up with JA RULE!!!!! WTF????? WORST SONG EVAR!!!!!!

POS

If this thing hadn't gone under the radar they prolly wouldn't dare to release a new album.

Man...I completely missed that one.

I was better off not knowing that, at least Metallica had some kind of dignity left in my mind....but now... :frown:
