That being said, i dont waste my time watching reality tv or any of the other media consumption bulsh!t.

The whole "you gotta watch sports to be a man" is definitely an american thing. I never really followed sports ( i couldn't care less) and i don't remeber any kinda of stigma attached to that behavior. I have yet to watch the superbowl or the world series....

I don't like watching these so called "professionals" making more money than the doctors that save lives, teachers that help struggling children, engineers solving today's problems, and countless others that have helped to progress humanity. The national league sports are nothing like humble origins from which they came from, but products of capitalism at its worst. In fact, much of television isn't too far from these guys. I enjoy participating in sports, but would rather have the phosphors glowing with better, more educational material.

I like watching the odd-ball sports that have during the olympics but never air on broadcast tv. Like curling.

I dislike all the sports they show on broadcast tv. To me, they are just not fun to watch or play.

I like watching most stuff on ESPN2. The strongest man competitions are the best.

My feeling is... if you like to watch a sport being played (even if you also like to play sports), you are broken. Period. I voted yes, though, because real men kick the #$@! out of things that are on the ground. Uh... and there are lots of opportunities to do this in badminton.

fixed. though before you start accusing me of being another uber-dork, i'll readily admit that I love using computers and technology. I also loving doing track and field. nothing wrong with being a geek AND an athlete.

I like watching sports and playing sports. I don't like people who only watch sports and act all tough and cool because they saw a football game.

You said it well, my man.

Nothing against sports and appreciation thereof, but I summarily reject this pressure that if you're a man who doesn't like sports you're somehow broken. As lighthearted as the OP may be, I know a lot of people who believe seriously that just because you have a Y chromosome that you automatically have to conform to some list of likes and dislikes (else you're gay or have to "turn in your man card"). Thinking that way might make it easier to wrap your mind around human nature, but it basically reduces us to the same level as crustaceons. We are capable of so much more than that.

Here's what I don't get about sports: Why do you get all upset when "your" team loses? Or why do you get all happy when "your" team wins? You didn't contribute anything to the outcome. You don't benefit from their victory in any way. You lose nothing when they lose. The players and coaches aren't from your hometown, so you aren't rooting for anyone you know or might know. And if one of "your" players goes to another team, he is suddenly hated. Which means you weren't rooting for him in the first place, otherwise you'd want him to succeed wherever he plays. So basically you're rooting for... a jersey? A pretty color scheme? A stadium???

Men who don't like sports = out at a club making out with YOUR girlfriend on football nights.

85% of the girls out there love guys who don't obsess about sports. (it's like #2 on the complain list right behind the whole toilet seat thing) Of the remaining 15%, a third are hotties that have been tricked into enjoying them by their frat boy first loves (ah well, can't win 'em all), a third are a little too butch for my tastes anyway, and the remaining 5% are those girls who actually have a sincere interest in sports themselves. That's fine, I'll take 85% anytime - especially when they are out during "the big game" and jaded that all the other guys were too busy for them. :)

I don't like watching sports.

If someone asks me "did you see the game last night" i just say "no, I was out" or just "no".

I can't see the appeal of watching a few blokes running around a field chasing or hitting a ball or other inanimate object.

I'll start this off by saying I just 'decided' to become a Washington Capitals fan, because I saw them a lot on tv when they played the Rangers... I wanted to be different. Years later, it became an infatuation - following this team. And when you've been following / caring about a team for a decade or two and there's nothing but disappointment, then you will truly know how it feels when they finally win one. It's got to be the 2nd best feeling in the world... but I wouldn't know. The Caps have never won one, but getting to the Stanley Cup Finals was quite a thrill for me. You just join in excitement and thrill of the emotional ride. If you never tried to care for a team (I know everything about every player, etc.) , then you wouldn't know what it's like. It's the same as any hobby... except there's an emotional investment. That's the definition of a die-hard fan.

For many years, I've gone to Nassau Coliseum (local to me) to watch the Washington Caps come play against the Isles... and each time I'm one of a handful in the entire stadium cheering when they score a goal. It's so quiet they could probably hear me from the nosebleed seats... down on the ice. Well, you have no idea what it felt like when I finally made it to DC to cheer with 20000 of my peers. It was unreal.

With that said, I don't think I ever want to root on a really successful franchise (the bandwagoners, mostly)... you simply don't have the same emotional attachment... and that's the best part of being involved... when they finally win one, there will be nothing like it.

I never liked playing, or watching team sports. I like participating in solo sports like skiing and biking, though.

So I voted no.

watching sports = boring

The highlight of my day is not watching other people get exercise by running back and forth across a field throwing a ball around. I would much rather be the one getting the exercise and playing the sport. Watching sports has to be the most boring activity known to man in my own opinion. I have no desire to watch any sport on TV. Total and complete waste of time for me to watch a sport being played (unless it is a relative or my offspring because then there's a reason for me to be watching.)

Outside of a few basketball games I really don't care to watch sports, playing them is another thing though. :D
