wouldn't boot at those timings. had to clear cmos. how come if my fsb is at 200 and the mem is set on auto it runs at the same speed but if I have my fsb at 250 and the mem on auto its at 194?!?! wtf?! I think that other guy tried to explain it but he wasn't very clear.

Yeah thats what I was explaining. Basically to get a 1:1 divder with the mem/cpu leave the memory index ratio on ddr 400 (200 mhz) and adjust your cpu frequency and your memory should automatically adjust too, even if the timing mode is set on manual. Your probably failing prime 95 just because your cpu cant run that fast. However I fail prime 95 at 250x11, 245x11 is stable. (We have the exact same cpu other than the cache). It also depends which test you are failing. But im guessing its your cpu because your ram is rated ddr 500 and if its running lower than the rated speed theres almost no chance your ram is failing. So most likely just lower the fsb a little, maybe to 245 instead of 250. You wont notice any preformance drop wit that little of a speed decrease.

hmm ok I already knew that about the memory setting and I just spent all day testing and here's the results:
with ht at 800, vcore at 1.55 and ddr voltage at 2.8 (board max)

my max safe htt is 275Mhz
my max safe cpu speed is around 2612Mhz
my ram passed memtest86 at 250Mhz and I didn't bother testing past that(its rated speed)
so I passed prime95 at 245x11 just like you said monster, but failed at 250x11.
however I did get a random crash at 245x11 so I backed it down. I tried both 248x10.5 (I know you guys say not to use half multipliers but I did it anyways for the sake of testing) and 236x11. BOTH passed prime95 with my memory setting on 1:1 (ddr 200), however failed miserably as soon as I changed it to 2:1 (ddr400) even though memtest passed at 250Mhz. WTF!!!!!
my timings are 2.5-4-3-7 because that's what zebo said to set them at to run memtest.
I'm going to loosen them some and see if that does anything. Anyone have any suggestions as to how to adjust them, like one at a time or raise each by 1 or what? or any other suggestions? this is quite frustrating...

I can tell you my exact cpu config
3500+ at 2.640 (240x11) 1.4625 Vcore. I can go higher, but I think 2.64 is a ton of speed and I dont need anymore. And I dont wanna shorten cpu life too much because vcore is the thing that actually shortens it.
Giel drr 500 (250 mhz) at ddr 480 (240 mhz) 2.5-4-4-7-1T at 2.7 v
asus a8n-sli, fsb at 240, htt multiplier at x4, htt bus=960
xp-90 heatsink with 90 mm fan
Prime 95 no errors, 6 hours runnings the cpu test, the one that tests some ram. I can run at 2.75 ghz on the one that tests alot of ram cuz it barely raises cpu temp. The one that tests max heat/voltage fails in 10 secs though. For now im fine at 2.64, no errors in any tests.
Temps stay at 47C Max.
Might wanna try my config and see how it works for you. (Not actual hardware, but the timings/speeds)

I found this thread ALL about my motherboard and I tried so many things and still no luck. http://www.ocforums.com/showthread.php?t=332591
and if the link doesn't work, just go to the main page, click mobos, asus and the thread on a8v deluxe

monster honestly I think its my motherboard being gay. that's the only difference we have and I crash at anything higher than about 2600Mhz and my vcore is at 1.55 while yours is at 1.475 :(.

ok anyways I am getting it to boot on these settings:
237x11
1.55vcore
2.8 ddr volt
1.6v agp
tried both 66.66/33.33 and 74.xx/37.xx settings for pci freq, didn't make a differenc2:1 memory setting and
from 2.5-4-4-7 all the way to 3-6-6-15 and I incremented each by 1, 1 at a time and tested after each( a lot of restarts and running prime) and I failed prime EVERY time

the interesting thing about the thread I mentioned above is that somewhere like 3/4 of the way down the page it has a small list of like 7 memory modules, brand and model, that are known to work well with this board, and my kingmax pc4000 is one of them! I really have NO IDEA where to go from here, as I'm sitting at 3-6-6-15 and STILL getting memory errors in prime. I swear the 2:1 divider is EVIL.... PLEASE HELP ME

HELL YEAH after a couple of days searching random google search results I came accross a thread in which someone said that they put their two memory sticks in the 2nd and 4th slots as opposed to the 1st and 3rd and were able to reach much higher speeds and be stable. well guess what?!?! it worked. I'm at 3-3-3-8 I believe and 237x11. quite stable and I'm so excited. This may have shot my plans for another gig upgrade to holes though. Don't know how it would take having all 4 slots occupied. you can always return them I guess. anyways, thanks for your help everyone, even though I ended up fixing it on my own, it was still nice being able to work out my problem with other people's help. Thanks a ton!
