LMAO, they just played them side by side on TV and it is... 100%... plagiarized.

No big shit, happens all the time, when you are caught, like Obama and Biden were, sack up admit it, apologize, move on.

But no........ just saw her interviewed live on Trump's plane and right next to him and in from of America, she insisted SHE wrote it when given the possible out of throwing a staffer under the bus who clearly wrote it for her.

Lying, bad but excusable, doubling down... PRICELESS.

Doubling down on stupid. This isn't how to make what should be a small issue go away.

Melania, meh. Tempest in a teapot except for the head-scratching ineptness of it all.

What's unfortunate for me is that L'affair Melania really took the spotlight off some of the truly wretched things Republicans like Steve King and Rudy Giuliani said yesterday. 🙁

As of 4:35 Eastern time it has not been retracted infact the doubled down on the media & Hillary'sfault. I agree its insanity to think Malania slipped those in.

Just read a pretty hilarious comment that I can't believe I didn't think of myself: the parts she stole for her speech are ones that talk about the benefits of honesty and hard work.

That's amazing.

I read a funny little conspiracy theory piece on gawker. (I know gawker but still.)

Obviously the only two options are Melania wrote it or a speechwriter did. It would be understandable if Melania did it while writing it herself.

But what if it was a speechwriter? It's of course possible it was an incompetent error. But what if it was

SABOTAGE!

Their theory is Corey Lewandowski had motive. He was dismissed by Trump at the behest of Trumps kids after Paul Manafort the current campaign manager bad mouthed Lewandowski in the press.

So maybe he asked a contact still in the campaign to update the speech.

On CNN this morning when asked about who was responsible he said very nice things about Melania and then did his best to throw Manafort under the bus.

The fact that makes it seem intentional was there was a frickin Rick-Roll in the speech like a signature in addition to the two plagiarized sections.

Not saying any of this was true but it still is kind of a fun hypothesis.

Nobody Cares with the exception of a handful of democrats.

Bullshit.

Again, could care less that she copied or someone in Trump's staff copied parts of it. Like I said, it happens.

But when given the chance to own up to it then lying about it, it's a problem.

She should have said the speech was written for me (Which is clearly the truth) and we are going to get down to the bottom of this.... that's honesty and integrity. I know... foreign words...

Such a ridiculous statement. What he did around Iran Contra was a treasonous subversion of the Constitution. It consisted of giving arms to the Mullahs in Iran so he could go subvert the legal Congressional will and fund a bunch of murderous right wing parasitical elites, the Somozan remnants, while also funding his illegal and treasonous escapade by bringing hard drugs back to poison our own citizens in the planes used to give those thugs arms.

This was one of the most despicable acts by any US President ever! :colbert:
So you would agree that Hillary Clinton and John Kerry sending arms to moderate jihadists in Syria, would amount to a despicable act. Perhaps even a crime against humanity. Look at the tens of thousands that have died, and the millions of refugees created. Maybe this is the most despicable act by any US president ever.

Meh...

1. The part claimed to be plagiarism looks to be 100% boilerplate. It's likely been said/written a hundred times over. If I cared enough I'd google M Obama's sentences and would be surprised if I couldn't find numerous examples.

2. I doubt Melania wrote it without help, her first language is not English. Furthermore, a speech at this level is usually a collaborative effort. I'm sure she had final editorial say on it, but can't imagine she wrote it all by herself.

Much ado about nothing.

Don't act stupid.

Oh wait, I guess you aren't acting.

I couldn't resist. The point is Trump & his handlers have allowed a completely forgivable mistake to fester. I know its hard for Trump but a simple apology or acknowledgement that a mistake happened and its over. That's the whole point.

This is exactly the point. The Trump crew are fumbling this one.

So is it trivial? or is it a yuuuggee deal? the way the lmsm played this story up today make this issue sound bigger then when Clinton raped an intern.

By all means please google her speeches and find an unattributed chain of 3-4 sentences in the exact same order with almost the exact same words.

I agree that she likely didn't have much hand in writing it, but that simply means the Trump campaign has been caught in yet another lie. Why do you think it is that every time they make a mistake they respond with a blizzard of lies? Does that concern you?

Throwing out a rape claim on a former President....really...really? No I'm not asking for proof because if you have it put it in its own thread and no this isn't a big deal however an acknowledgement or even better an apology is appropriate. If I broke a glass in your house I should apologize its basic courtesy we all learned at a young age.

Yes. Anyone still trying to argue this isn't plagiarism needs to have their head examined. I don't know how it gets any more blatant.

I guess you missed the point.

I don't think it's a big deal. The arrogance in the response is sad though. Yeah, you lifted a few lines - not a big deal, admit it, and move on.

Nixon for the 21st century?

Nope, I'm not concerned about it. (I've never been concerned about a First Lady, or possible First lady. Nobody elects them and the less I see or hear of them the better. I "just say no".)

Used to think you had decent responses, although a stretch sometimes. However this is off a cliff. I feel bad for supporters who feel they have to completely tow the line. Your candidate doesn't have to be perfect for you to support them, no need to be delusional in your support.

I have to agree with you here. Anyone who is always (100%) in agreement with anyone, is an incredible brown-noser. If you are in agreement 60-70% with someones views, you have very similar views.

Does the lack of awareness that something went wrong concern you at all? I'm not trying to troll I legitimately would like to know. Its your opinion I'd never say someone is wrong in this scenario.

What about all the lies from the campaign? Do those concern you?

Oh come on, you can't seriously believe that. It's almost word for word and the sentences are in the same order. It is clearly ripped off and I doubt you will ever find something so blatant in any of Michelle Obama's speeches.

Then they should have admitted that to begin with. Not this nonsense where they change their story five times in one day. They can't even keep their own bullshit straight.
