Melania Trump Plagiarized Her Convention Speech From Michelle Obama

Regardless of her interview, does anyone really believe she wrote a speech? I can see, maybe, her giving her input at a meeting with the speechwriters. So I don't blame her, she's just playing her role. Find the speechwriter and tattoo a scarlet P on his
forehead.
I'm more insulted by the response. It's so obvious yet they stand their with a straight face and try to tell you it wasn't plagiarized.

By the way, bringing up plagiarism by others isn't a defense for Melania.

There is no intervention without the USA's muscle. Neither the UK nor France especially has the logistical capability for any meaningful intervention.

My only complaint about Mrs. Trump's speech is that somebody missed a golden opportunity to have her say "Moose and Squirrel must die."

That is not accurate. The UK and France were very prepared to go it alone and the UK/France/Italy/etc certainly had the ability to supply their forces for quite a while as Libya really isn't that far from Sicily, Crete, and other NATO bases. We made the intervention much easier, but they didn't need the US to make it happen.

The reaction is typical Trump, and it's one of the most troubling of his many troubling attributes. He can't ever admit any wrongdoing - all he does is deflect. It also reinforces how poorly run his campaign seems to be generally. I'm sure Mrs. Trump had nothing to do with the act of plagiarism, and even if she did, it would be easy enough to throw some junior speechwriter under the bus to protect her. I can only assume that the reason they haven't done that is that Trump made a (totally unnecessary) point of having her say, just before the speech, that she had written it herself.

Its like he wanted to throw her under the bus. lol.

Nah, just breezily not thought through, is my guess.

It does amaze me how many here relentlessly attack Hilary on the honesty issue while never saying a peep about The Donald, who's by far the biggest, the most shameless, the most consistent liar there is. He outdoes Reagan, and like Reagan, lies so often and so easily it's apparent they both came to believe their own lies. That's one scary Twilight Zone.

Melania, meh. Tempest in a teapot except for the head-scratching ineptness of it all.

What's unfortunate for me is that L'affair Melania really took the spotlight off some of the truly wretched things Republicans like Steve King and Rudy Giuliani said yesterday. 🙁

I totally agree. You see people make this a political witch hunt when it's really the speechwriters that need to be taken out and beaten here. The dumb politicians and their trashy family can't be held accountable when staffers aren't doing their jobs to make sure their speeches aren't plagiarized material.

To go full politics on this...the campaign made a major error here and if they keep this up, I don't think it will even hurt Trump at this point. The fact that he denies things...and keeps denying them...and people eventually give up on asking about the issues anymore, is his character...it's what people expect.

Trump and Putin have a lot in common. With today's headline about the Russian doping allegations: http://www.nytimes.com/2016/07/19/s...report-blames-anti-russian-politics.html?_r=0

If you deny it enough and try to make yourself out to be a victim, you'll split the consensus that you are guilty of something and generate enough doubt to keep moving forward.

Oh another Secretary of State trying to tell us about politics behind Lybia and Benghazi. Please, former Harvard graduate, enlighten us with your vast wisdom and diplomacy experience.

I am pretty sure this thread is about Trump's plagiarism right?
I'm not going to go into it here. But I do suggest that you spend a little time educating yourself as you seem to be completely ignorant regarding Hillary's central role and false narrative used to involve our country in this war which ultimately destabilized the region causing massive death and human suffering.

Well to be fair Reagan couldnt even wipe his own butt his brain was so rotted with alzheimers.

Yeah but even before alzheimers whacked him, he displayed that really disturbing tendency to tell verifiable whopper untruths as the gospel truth. That amiable boob B actor did a lot of damage to our country. 🙁

The intervention in Libya was primarily conducted by the UK and France, but that's mostly beside the point/

Libya was already in the midst of a civil war before any western intervention happened so blaming western intervention as the cause of the current chaos is dubious. Chaos was already there.

You are clearly lying or terribly misinformed.

From Obama's own lips...

President Barack Obama said five years after the U.S. intervened in Libya to topple then-dictator Moammar Qaddafi and prevent a bloody civil war that the plan pushed by advisers including Hillary Clinton “didn’t work” and Libya is now “a mess.”
Obama, speaking in interviews with The Atlantic magazine published Thursday, blamed lack of support from European and Gulf allies and longstanding tribal divisions within Libya for the failure of the mission intended to stabilize the country and usher in a democratically elected government.
Even Obama thinks you are full of it.

Ronald Reagan inspired many, and that was his true legacy. Even Obama has referenced Reagan in this regard. Yes he made mistakes. But those mistakes, for the most part, were being so trusting of Democrats in Congress.

Medical experts believe that his eventual dementia was caused by the assassination attempt. The bullet came within an inch of his heart.

You can't read your own links.

Nothing in there says that Libya wasn't in chaos before the western intervention or that the western intervention was the cause of the current chaos in Libya. He said that a lack of follow-up after the intervention was a failure.

In fact, he directly supports my point that Libya was already a mess before we did anything:

We averted large-scale civilian casualties, we prevented what almost surely would have been a prolonged and bloody civil conflict.”

Unless of course you think a 'prolonged and bloody civil conflict' is somehow not considered chaos. Thanks for pointing out that Obama agrees with me, haha.

You know, I've worked in health care my whole career, do you have a plan to end your life prior to Alzheimer's or senility kicking in?

Also, just an aside, as a democrat myself, there's a 75% chance Hillary has it locked in, and we're looking at near 20 years of a dem POTUS, with massive changes through the choice of USSC justices, what's the point of being a sore winner?

Such a ridiculous statement. What he did around Iran Contra was a treasonous subversion of the Constitution. It consisted of giving arms to the Mullahs in Iran so he could go subvert the legal Congressional will and fund a bunch of murderous right wing parasitical elites, the Somozan remnants, while also funding his illegal and treasonous escapade by bringing hard drugs back to poison our own citizens in the planes used to give those thugs arms.

This was one of the most despicable acts by any US President ever! :colbert:

I guess the Dems had a hand in leaving those Marines unarmed in Beirut

Small side point, but nobody is really fluent in five languages. She may have a working command of all five, to various degrees, but nobody is really simultaneously fluent in more than two languages at any one time, with the exception of possible language genius outliers. I seriously doubt Melania is a language genius outlier.

And, btw, for all her many, many years in America and while reading from a prepared speech she would have intensely practiced beforehand, here she is on April 4th of this year slipping up and leaving out the 'a' while doing the Moose and Squirrel thing.

She couldn't even read her prepared and practiced script right. That's not fluency in English, friends.

I'll send your rigorous fact checking on to CBS so they can correct their article.
