I decided to go the uTorrent route. I'm a torrent noob, so I guess I'm not sure what to expect. I verified that my ports are open but the download is still slow, about 120 k/second. Speeds fluctuate up and down from 190k/s to 60k/s. <Edit> It seems to be hovering around 190-200k for the past two minutes. That's better I guess.

I was able to connect a server.
The first one gave me a connection error but the second one worked.

OK, so my uTorrent download just finished and I have this .mtx file. I change it to a .zip and extract it. Now what? What more do I have to do so that it is properly recognized by MTX? Do I need to download anything else?

<Edit> To install, take the .mtx file you downloaded from the torrent and put in in this folder: MTX\temp\games. Then open up MTX and go <File> <Open File (*.mtx)> and then select the file you downloaded.

In my case I had downloaded v.0017. After installing via MTX it updated to v.0018. (The current updated no-CD version is v.0020.)

Wish they'd done some work on getting the client running properly and not lagging.

Downloaded the main .mtx on a separate torrent client, and now I'm updating it.

Seems like you first need to install MW4, then Assault Tech1, and only after that start updating, otherwise it didn't quite work.

I tried for like 10 minutes to get it to work; then gave up and uninstalled everything. Not worth putting a ton of time into this to maybe get it working imo.

Was able to install and update the game, but when I tried to play multiplayer, couldnt connect to any of the servers listed. Also, the button configurations are pretty crazy, not easy to play on a laptop at all.

Gonna shelve it.

^ The game was designed to use with a Joystick, you will need to change it up to suite keyboard and mouse usage.

But the whole online play issue is really bothering me, I never had all these issues with I used my Disc last year to play it. Dont see why its happening now, This is really bad what the fuck is mektek doing?

100,000 of people downloaded the game but hardly any people are playing now because they cant figure how to get multiplayer to work.

I am really pissed off at mektek...

Edit:
A new version of MTX came out, Its skinless!

I've played lots of online multiplayer games and the only one that ever required port-forwarding was Sins of a Solar Empire (in order to host games) before a patch came out to fix it. So, I really don't understand what it's necessary for Mektek's release of Mechwarrior.

Does anyone know how I can copy my saved game file from one computer to another cause I want to continue my campain mode on a different computer when I am away from my desktop

exactly, I mean I played This exact game just the 3.02b patch (current is 3.1) with no ports being set. I posted this at mekteks site and they just ignore it. They are loosing player base by the second. Majority of the users will not do the Ports Dance and just uninstall.

I think you need to copy the folder called "Pilots" in the folder called "Resources"

nope, tried it. all that is there is a 5byte file with the text saying "Done." both on my progressed copy and my non-progressed one

EDIT:

I think I found it.

C:\Users\Username\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files (x86)\mektek.net\Mechwarrior Mercenaries - Mektek Mekpak\RESOURCE\Pilots
Note: I am running 64 bit, so Program Files (x86) may be Program Files for those on 32 bit.

open pilots, and my username is there. its around 10 megs the file, includes the maps I did.

EDIT 2:!!!! I copied the folder from Mechwarrior Mercenaries - Mektek Mekpak in the directory to the end, Everything is there! settings, mechs, campaign. EVERYTHING. feel free to put this in the OP if you would like

So what state is this release in? Can I download and play it when I get home from work today or are there still lots of issues?

oh man I just played for hours, I love this game, I am still pissed off at Mektek for such a awesome release.

Any how, I got one more issue to iron out, my game keeps minimizing every time the resolution changes.
