I am 15, maybe they don't take me seriously. I took my dad with me everytime we went to OD. OK kgraeme, garfang tells me to contact the police department in Niles, i do not know where the manager filed his report, Niles, or Skokie, if you have read the replys, you will know that he is not at the store much and it is hard to get a hold of him. So if he is not there today, i will go to my local police station in Skokie. I have contacted office depot coporate thru mail and phone (loss prevention, they never called me back in 6 days, i called again and i kept getting voice mail from the people who actually work in loss prevention)

I truly am sorry to hear this happened to you Joony. I'm even more sorry for you having to put up with all the 13 year old virgin retards posting stupid crap in this thread. :|

FYI Joony is a very honest and very well respected trader over at the ATFS Forums, for those of you questioning his integrity, I'd pound your heads in if I was anywhere near you.
:)

Do what you have to do but make the police report ASAP. Maybe you should call the Police dept. closest to OD and ask them what to do.

Good Luck

Office Depot should be ashamed of their 'customer service', even if it did come into their store already packed with sand, they should refund your money and take up the cause on their own. I hope you are somehow compensated by the time all this is over for your time and effort, not to mention the stress.

I recently bought an Ipaq from CompUSA and the sales dude told me to buy the extended replacement warranty. If anything happens to it, then I get a replacement. So... go back, buy the warranty, and tell them that you came across a mad alchemist who turned your Ipaq into sand... and you need a replacement. :)
BTW: My Ipaq wasn't sand filled... but the seal is really hard to put back once it's been openned, sooo... maybe it was a disgruntle Compaq employee which did the switch.

Joony, is your father the most worthless man on the planet? Seriously, if I had a son and he got screwed out of $300 and the managers at OD treated him like you've been treated, I would have someone's head on a platter.

From this point on, you need to get everything in writing. You need to call the police and have them file a written report. You need a written statement from the manager. Then you need to start bombarding OD corporate with as much evidence as you can until they make things right. You need names, times, and as much detailed information as possible. This is not compaq's fault... it is up to OD to fulfill their part of the contract they made by taking your money in exchange for merchandise. Fry's was sued and lost big time over just this sort of thing (that's the reason for their stupid return practices today).

Damn lil dude thats a messed up week er however long it's been now.

Your dad should have handled this, no matter how mature you are in the eyes of OD manager (unless he was in on it) and the cops your some kid trying to make quick cash. Going in with you don't cut it, dude needs to do more than open the door while you walk in/out. :frown:

On a brighter note, is the sand a nice quality sand?:|;):frown:

well, my dad dosen't speak english very well, so it all depends on me. He also tried, so did my mom. We talked to the manager for almost an hour, my mom kept saying the same things and annoyin the manager.

edit: i though i posted a picture...

here it is again

it seems like construction grade sand, the police department said to describe the type of sand and rocks to someone in the attourney general office. Well, its construction sand with some big chunk of sand stuck together.

stark: i aready went to the police, they said to go to attourney general office

Dear lord, it's hard to believe this has gone on so long...

<< call everyone you can think of, call often, and don't go away until you get the Ipaq you paid for or the cash you paid >>

Get on the phone with Office Depot corporate and make sure they can transfer you to someone who can actually do something for you. You paid for an Ipaq, you got sand. You deserve what you paid for. You deserve your satisfaction, 100%. Let them investigate you until the cows come home, but it sure as hell better be while you've got an ipaq (or your cash) in hand!

What can I do to help? I can't imagine that a barrage of phone calls from AT members would do anything but harass the store, but I hate to see you getting pushed around by policy and procedure. You're a customer and you deserve what you paid for. It's not your problem.

First can somebody inform me about the Frys suit and what there practices are now.

We COULD all call them...or you could set up a paypal account and we could just each donate a bit. But then losers will begin to lie and try to get people to do that for them

Hey Joony you need to get the media on your side. A good thing to remember would be how to establish your credibility. Bring up heatware and explain to them how it works and what an evaluation is, then tell them how many positives you have. This will help prove that you're not the type of person who would try to scam Office Depot. G'luck Joony, let us know if we can help in any way.

UPDATE: I have contacted the local attourney general office and told them what happened, they said to give me name and address and a complaint form will have to be filled thru mail. They said that you cannot go there because there is a line to wait. sigh...I think this will take a while. I have yet to hear back from the BBB, FTC, and fox and the office depot guy that was supposed to call.

HELL YEAH!!!! The manager called me and said that i will get a refund in the form of a check, maybe the BBB, FTC, fox did something. He said that compaq will not do anything about it. YAY! I'll buy a ipaq tomorrow (and open it at the store :D) i hope that check actually comes and its not a trick or anything.
