Nik, this isn't a question or advice thread, this is a nostalgia thread. Off-topic it is, get over it.

CorpRec, ever play MM3 with the controller 2 cheat?

Yeah I did, but even then Wily was still a bitch.

The controller 2 trick is really the only physical way that game is plausable.

What is the controller 2 trick? I've never heard of this.

IIRC, you have Right on controller 2's directional pad held in, and Mega Man can super-jump. There are a few spots where you can jump into a pit and "die" (energy at zero, explosion sound, level music stops) but you can continue to play and nothing will kill you.

You think 3 is hard? Try playing 1. There are no codes. You had to beat it in one sitting.

Correct. I think Shadow Man was probably the annoying one of the lot. But a year, come on

man..there hasn't been a good Mega Man game in years. I really did not like the PS2 Mega man's at all (X7 and X8). The last good old school Mega Man games I played were Mega Man 8 and X4 for the Sega Saturn (they are also on the PS1).

I pretty much stopped after MM5, I never liked the X series at all

Yeah...I stopped after maybe the first X game. Something was missing from them. Plus the robots were getting to be a stretch.

I thought 2 and 3 were both awesome. I agree, great music in 2. Flash man's level and aquamans level come to mind. Plus the boss tune.

MM2: Metal Man, Bubble Man, Heat Man, Wood Man, Air Man, Crash Man, Flash Man, Quick Man

Why do you beat flash man second to last? Him and his level were cake. He's easier then metal man even.

Yep, the original was the hardest for that reason. If you lost all lives from a late Wily stage, you would continue from an early Wily stage.

I think my order was: Bomb Man, Guts Man, Cut Man, Elec Man, Ice Man, Fire Man

Thank goodness for the Select button trick, it sure helped against the block-built cyclops. Too bad it wasn't available when he returned in MM3.

I'm just guessing, I can't remember my order exactly, but the idea was to use the previous boss's weapon on the next one. Not sure if I got this exactly right though, I'd have to play it again :)

I never beat 1. I rented it...I remember I left the nintendo on for like 4 hours while my parents dragged me to a town meeting because I had only one of the robots left. There were only 6 in that one instead of the 8 I think.

I don't remember ever using any cheat codes in any of these games though. Eventually you'd figure out the system to beat the levels.

Yeah, flash man's power was for quickman...you used the timestopper on him. But flashman was so easy I always beat him first or second. Quickman was the last. His level was brutal, and he was tough to beat.

The game is the most fun during the wily levels though, when you have to use your different weapons to beat different puzzles/bosses.

I never found 1 or 2 to be that much of a challenge, the stages seemed easier and the bosses easier to kill..

MM3 was easy, although I think MM5 was the easiest.
Want to play a hard game try Jim Power: Lost Dimention in 3D

Castlevania was damn hard, but hardest game ever has to go to Battletoads.

Even with the Game Genie and infinite lives, there were these jet-ski levels that were friggin' impossible.

Edit: Mega Man 2 = Best Mega Man Ever.

Yeah, def. the hardest for the NES, at least of the games I played. I never made it past level 3.

For the SNES, the hardest game for me was ActRaiser 2.

Actraiser 1 was a lot of fun, but then they got rid of the simulation part and AR2 sucked

I can't remember if it was actraiser 1 or 2 that I beat. It was a really game though. It was probably 1.

Are you kidding me? 3 was EASY! I could beat that game when I was nine years old, without any codes or any of that.

If I remember the order correctly: Top Man, Shadow Man, Spark Man, Magnet Man, Hard Man, Snake Man, Gemini Man, Needle Man.

Although I could easily start with magnet man, snake man or needle man just as well.

But yeah, if MM3 is too hard for you, put down the controller, right now. You want a hard game, give mega man one a try. Now THAT is a hard game. Evene 2 was a hell of a lot easier than 1.

Actraiser one was easy too, so youre probably thinking of two.

Castlevania 1 wasnt nearly as impossible as castlevania 3. I dont think anyone has ever beaten that one on its own. Or contra 1 without the code. Or the original zelda, without a guide.

Was castlevania 3 the one on the SNES or was that called super castlevania or something? That was a really awesome game, but I did beat that when I rented it. Castlevania II was really cool, it was like a zelda II style game as much as it was castlevania.

Yeah, contra 1 was pretty tough.
