meeting etiquette

evident

I was a at a meeting this morning from 10-12. around 10:45 the meeting took a break and would resume at 11. my notepad was at a seat at the table, along with my laptop and pen. I stepped out to get a pretzel. When i came back, there were 6 more attendees at the meeting. i come back to find that a new attendee had moved my stuff and sat in my chair. I said hey that's my stuff and i was sitting there she replied i didnt see your name there! needless to say i was kind of peeved but just moved to another spot that was still open at the table.

this person was definitely not higher on the totem poll than i am and didnt think much about it at the time but thinking back on the situation it kind of bothers me. i'm not sure why she had to move my belongings as there was another seat at the table. what she did was definitely rude, right?

Time to find a new job/organization... work with loosers and you will become one. never see this happen in my 10+ year IT career

Not only rude, but highly unprofessional.
And 1 hour late too. Looks like someone who highly think of themselves. I'm too important to attend this "meeting" and be on time.

You forgot to mark your spot buy peeing on it. Do it next time. 😀

spot on about that. this person did have a gucci bag and had a snooty attitude. not that a gucci bag means they think highly of themselves but they definitely had that air about them.

Just remember one important lesson:

Revenge is a dish best served cold. You'll know when the time is right. :whiste:

She had no reason or right to touch your stuff. The fact that she did makes her a very unprofessional & rude b****. I wouldn't carry the grudge around per se, but if she ever asks you for a favor, you might want to make sure you're very busy.

Stop being a sexist pig. You were oppressing her by sitting in that chair, and she did the right thing by moving your stuff.

You're just lucky she didn't complain to HR and have you fired for sexual harassment (that's what I would have done).

she probably could have gone to HR and got me in trouble as she met certain diverse employee criterias

I've never seen that happen in my entire career. Oh, I've seen people accidentally sit in someone else's chair at a meeting because the person had stepped out, but once the person returned, the chair usurper moved and apologized. But never have I seen someone say "I didn't see your name there" or anything like that and stay in the chair.

Next time, say, "Excuse me, that's where I'm sitting" while moving your stuff back in front of the chair.

If it's a one-time gaffe, let it slide. But I find her actions to be rude.

"I didn't see your name there."
"I didn't realize that our company hires rude and unprofessional people."

Haha, once you said this then the situation became understood. Typical. Those types of women are usually rude and feel a great sense of entitlement at the work place.

"I didn't see your name there."
"I didn't realize that our company hires rude and unprofessional people."

Can't say that to those type of women, they are doubly protected.

I would have falcon punched her right there.

My office is very relaxed. Hotel seating for everything. However if someone has their belongings there or is obviously using that seat, no one would dare sit there. If they did on accident and someone let them know, they would move without being asked.
