There is a quarter in those pix for comparison

Yea I know my floor is crappy :p

The top off it looks a bit dusty in photos, probably from when i put it in place and all the dust flew up, Ive had it about 2 weeks :)

This is part of the comp sound system.

The sub is facing the wall so it gets more room gain which equals lower frequencies and a bit more dB, but a bit less accurate.

Excellent choice. What speakers are you using with it?

edit: piece of advice for room placement. I tried the room gain approach and it sucked, all the bass sounded muddy. To get the best sound for your listening position, put the sub where you want to hear it, and crawl around the room with your head to the floor listening for the cleanest bass response. That spot is where you want your sub.

Ill be using 4 Polk RTi4's and 1 CSi3 center channel. powered by a harman kardon AVR330 receiver and some Canare 4S11 wires. Bettercables sub interconnect. Connected to the soundcard through analog ins\outs so I can utilize EAX and such. :)

Dont believe me? :p

and yea apac I did that little crawl around the floor trick, however I figured for PC games id rather have volume and depth over accuracy, which is why i went with this placement. Its not really for music...

No :( Its a little low-end (in the way of features, not performance)...but for this setup LFE is fine.

Yeah, their reasoning was to cut costs down since their market was going to be almost entirely people who were going to use it with a receiver that had a sub pre-out so they could cut costs a little by not offering connection methods most users weren't going to use.

Do you have gain on 100%?

EDIT: looks like you have an SPL meter, did you use it?

Yes I used the spl meter to map out my dips and peaks, cant really find a good enough eq on my pc to balance it out though :p

I meant more about what level is right...

How do you have this hooked up? 100% gain is waaaay too high for my setup.

When you were mapping out peaks did you use the correction factors for the low frequency sensitivity of the meter?

Man, I thought my Dayton 12" was huge...

Anywho, if you have FEAR I'd recommend you try that with your new setup. I have my receiver (Onkyo SR502) connected by analog multichannel input to my Audigy 2 ZS. It's connected to my Dayton 12" (at a little over 1/3 volume) and my Fluance SX-HTB+ set. Let's just say that everyone else in my suite went running for cover when I began playing. OK, maybe they didn't go that far, but they were surprised to say the least. It's amazing. I can't wait to get Call of Duty 2 (have the demo).

Edit: We also watched The Punisher yesterday through my computer. Now that'll rock the dorm!

yes I did. Well since the sub is hooked to the computer, I figured I would just set the gain to 100 and let the sound card and receiver take it from there as far as volume goes.

And yea ive been playing F.E.A.R with it :D Its awesome.

Er sorry, it is hooked up to the receiver. I was just implying that its all hooked up to the computer in the end :)
