I meant more about what level is right...

How do you have this hooked up? 100% gain is waaaay too high for my setup.

When you were mapping out peaks did you use the correction factors for the low frequency sensitivity of the meter?

yes I did. Well since the sub is hooked to the computer, I figured I would just set the gain to 100 and let the sound card and receiver take it from there as far as volume goes.

And yea ive been playing F.E.A.R with it :D Its awesome.

Why isn't the sub hooked up to your receiver?

Er sorry, it is hooked up to the receiver. I was just implying that its all hooked up to the computer in the end :)

Did you read what SVS recommends for gain levels etc. in the manual?

Cant say that I have. But I think how I have it set up right now is fine..

Alright.

As long as you have the LFE level turned way down I guess it could be calibrated right.

mmm...yeah.

Congrats on the sub though

Dont believe me? :p

and yea apac I did that little crawl around the floor trick, however I figured for PC games id rather have volume and depth over accuracy, which is why i went with this placement. Its not really for music...
Nope. Don't believe you. At those frequencies, the subwoofer is omnidirectional and its orientation is irrelevant (except for longevity).

Actually, port direction does make some minor differences. It tends not to so much be direction of the sub, as distance from port to wall. Again, minor though.

Actually the difference can be quite drastic. Trust me, Ive tried many different orientations with many different subs. It DOES make difference

You didn't do any measuring, did you?

He did say he measured out the frequency response with his SPL meter.

Whoops, missed that.

I still can't accept that the response would change "drastically" unless you put the port damn close to the wall.

Definately a nice sub. I never thought of putting one of my SVS' on my computer. How do you think a CS Ultra will sound during F.E.A.R. hmmm I think you just gave me a weekend task.

So I tried it out. Yes, that is wayyyyyy too much bass for a game.

But if I put on headphones, and use the sub, that is cool. Almost like a buttkicker ;)

Well then turn down the gain :p
