Medical Marijuana I'm confused

bfdd

Lifer
I'm confused by this because I just took jump and got my medical "card" for it. It cost me 150 dollars and about 1 1/2 hrs out of my day for an appointment. The doctor I saw was a cardiologist, he even told me a story about a patient he did heart surgery on. I've looked the guy up he really is a legitimate doctor who from my take does this for side money or maybe because he supports legalization. What confused me was how easy it was to get, he didn't want to much information just key words and wanted to see my prescription for prochlorperazine and I was off to my 12 month recommendation to use marijuana instead of my prescription.

What struck me as odd is just how many people came through this one of MANY offices and not even the cheapest/easiest you can get it from. While I was there over 10 people came through or were waiting to see the doctor. In an hour it had made anywhere between 100 for renewals and 150 for new patients ranging from 1000 to 1500 dollars for a little office in a building and an hour of his time.

They're basically giving you a license to smoke marijuana for 150 bucks. The anti-legalization people fighting this in California need to just step down the fight is lost. You can go buy a "license" to smoke for 150 or less. It's practically legal right now, more so than I thought it was. I thought I was going to have to explain things etc etc, nope he wanted to see my prescription asked some questions where I really only had the option of answering with a keyword he could right down to justify it and I was on my way to pick up a quad, 7 grams for those who don't know of some dank green.

Has anyone else gone through this yet? What were your impressions? I just don't see how it's still called "medical marijuana" when all you need to do is show you have a prescription for some sort of head pill(they give xanax out like it's going out of style) and you have your ticket in. After experiencing it all for the first time, getting my recommendation and actually having gone in a few clinics, they need to just do away with all the bullshit and legalize it so they can tax it. It's so easy right now and the only group not really benefiting from it is the state government.

ps. i have no idea where i went with this post was kind of just rambling because it all seemed a little to convenient.

Medical marijuana process as it stands is a sham. They need to either legalize it or audit doctors giving out the Rx.

It just needs to be legalized JS80. Auditing Doctors won't change anything because it's rather easy to get what you need to get the recommendation. All it takes is a prescription for some meds that you'd rather take marijuana for. It needs to just be legalized here in California already.

The clinics and MDs have to be treated as a true medical practitioners, not just a rubber stamp for a revolving door.

The states needs to licence these facilities and pull/fine those that have a rubber stamp.
If it is going to be used for medical purposes, then show that it is; license and regulate as such.

Any other medical clinic has to meet standards; force the medical fakers to do the same

Also, if they follow what Colorado is doing by requiring the facilites themselves to grow the plants. That cuts out the professional growers (illegal) that are using the medical story as a profit making enterprise.

That's just silly. Since when has monopolization resulted in lower prices and less profits?

Every state that wants legitimate MMJ needs to have registered growers AND dispensaries.

This sounds basically like how a lot of people receive psychotropic medication for things such as depression or anxiety.

I saw the documentary on discovery and I have to say it's gotta be the biggest pile of horseshit ever. They had people claiming they need weed for insomnia, back pain or anxiety... I'm sure inhaling smoke from a burning carbohydrate is the remedy there.

California looney tunes if you ask me.

Seriously? You can't see how MMJ helps insomnia or anxiety?

It also helps minor aches and pains and nausea among others.

I'm glad you support putting foreign pills with side effect lists a mile long into people instead of safe and natural MJ though. 🙄

The issue is the SMOKING part, not THC. There's a million ways to "cure" insomnia - I can drink myself stupid and pass out. That doesn't make it a good idea.

Cigarettes are a great way to lose weight. Coke will cure your lethargy...

Penicillin is good for you; that doesn't mean you should lick mold off old bananas.

No one has ever died from MJ. You get some tar, a little smoke related crud, nothing that is going to seriously hurt you. It is the best alternative to many medicines on the market.

It only looks better versus all those other examples you posted. 😛

You mean like cigarettes? What was the last time you smoked anything as a remedy? Or added plant to your pesto to sleep better? Somehow none of that stuff seems scientific in this day and age.

My grandma told me to put garlic in my ear when i get inner ear infection. Smoking weed to cure back pain seems on par with that.

Id rather smoke myself to sleep then get addicted to ambien.

Why do you care what others do anyhow?

I care about it as another example or California's misguided public policy. Having it quasi legal in this sort will only get more people smoking weed (as the o/p points out), rather than turn into into a legitimate medicine.

You either legalize it, or don't... having it stuck between will lead to all sorts of negative externalities.

What? Scientific research (and common sense) shows what MJ can help with.

You aren't even making sense anymore after your last statement, Halik.

I can only see it as leading to good externalities (stimulate the economy and provide relief to those who suffer, and broaden legal cartel-free routes to MJ).

The only thing better would be full legalization.

Well post up some peer reviewed studies that show smoking weed is helpful for x.

Again I'm not arguing that weed should be schedule 1 or that THC has no medical benefits. My point is simply that smoking anything is a retarded way to go about doing it. There will be virtually no pharma research so long it's shedule 1 and "better smoking weed than FDA approved drugs" is hardly a rational argument to base public policy on (but hey, it will get passed via proposition)

Again in the age of designer drugs, billions of dollars in medical research and people with biotech phds, inhaling smoke from burning plant is the medication? That's why it sounds like one of those remedies i heard form my grandma.
