hello there.........noob who needs some computer help regarding my media player
I have windows xp home edition and windows media player version 10
the problem is that sometimes when I download a movie file, when the download finishes and I try to play the movie, windows media plauer disappears.totally and without explanation, the damn thing just goes away.
and even if I click on another movie file, nothing at all happens.it goes so far that even if I go into the start menu and click on windows media player, nothing happens, its as thought the computer refuses to let me even get into the media player at all.
and it will not even play streaming movies or anything after that.the pisser of it all though is that the file itself that was downloaded is on the harddrive, and in fact if I right click it and use the "open with" option and use real media or intervideo windvd,it works, plays like a charm...........but windows media player is dead and gone kaput and cannot be pulled up or tweaked.
the only way I have been able then to use windows media player again when this happens is to do a system restore to an earlier date, which is a real pain,to say the least.
so,what causes this, and what can be done to prevent it??? anybody who can help with this will be greatly appreciated.
ps........I have tried to unistall and reinstall the media player form control panel, and it flashes the message that I must first lose the program.......but if it isn't accessable it certainly isn't closable.
this is happening quite frequently, and I am getting quite frustrated with it.
