Measles vaccine

Muse

Lifer
Local Nextdoor listserve shot out emails today that the local supermarket had been visited by a person with measles 3 days ago. They said if you were there from 3-5PM you should be on alert for symptoms, which would come 7-21 days later.

Some research reveals that measles is most contagious before a person passing it along has any symptoms! Also, 90% of unvaccinated people in direct contact are likely to contract the disease.

I wasn't there. However, I did some research, am not certain I'm vaccinated. Probably am. But one bit of research has me puzzled. They advise anyone born after 1957 to get vaccinated if they haven't been (or I suppose if they aren't sure). Why the 1957 stipulation?

I was "lucky." I had the "red" measles, German measles, chicken pox, (damned shingles...stay away!) and scarlet fever as a kid. Tried repeatedly to get the mumps...(parents used to have "mumps parties" where neighborhood kids went and stayed at the house of friends who got the mumps....this was way before the mumps vaccine)...never happened. I got the mumps shot a few years ago. I DO NOT want them nowadays.

I shake my head in amazement at the stupid anti-vaxxers.

Looks like muse was so excited about this he triple-posted...😎

I have no idea what you mean by triple posted here. I have made just one post (the OP) in this one thread about measles. 😕

Actually there were 3 identical posts. Two with a time stamp 1:22AM ET and one with repiies time stamped at 1:24AM ET. I deleted the first 2 as they had no replies and left the 3rd - this one. Hiccup in the Matrix, I guess.
